This place is great for kids and adults even in the winter. We were on our way home from Maggie Valley and decided to make a detour to see some animals. We weren't disappointed. They are expanding and improving exhibits but what they have is a very nice collection of animals from the area. Even in the middle of winter, we saw all the animals out except the hibernating bears. The otters were really entertaining! We also ended up talking to one of the people that was feeding animals and she was friendly, informative and PATIENT with our kids that asked a million questions. We ended up staying about 2.5 hours but our kids would have stayed longer if we let them. I would suggest they expand the petting zoo to more than just sheep but it is probably more important that they expand other habitats first. And, I hear they are putting in a kids playground in Summer 2013 as well. Can't wait to go there again next year when we're back for skiing.
