“Good Package Price-Location was good!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

We frequent the Marriott Hotels and this was the best location to walk in the downtown area.
Our room was a corner room and was the average size with two double beds. The king bed rooms looked a bit roomier if you only need one bed. We had a minor cleaning issue that was handled quickly. If you are a Gold member of Marriott you get the breakfast up in the 12th Floor Club Room. It was nice with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, oatmeal and breads. The room has a nice view. The lobby was upscale trendy. We stayed at a B&B our visit prior and would go back to the B&B only because of the nice people you get to meet and enjoy talking to.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room if you need two double beds. Get a King bed if you don't need two beds be...

Perfect, perfect location! We were there on a Sunday, had a quiet room as requested, on the 6th floor, view of the Asheville hill tops. Beautiful hip lobby and restaurant/bar very appealing but we did not eat there so can't review.Wonderfully comfortable bed. I usually travel with my own pillow but did not need it here.great crisp linens. Room very clean, new carpets, new everything, great panel over desktop for all of your electronic/charger needs, sufficient lighting, mirrors, etc. Bathroom nicely remodeled and very clean, but older tiled tub/shower combo. Great hot water pressure, lots of good towels. bathroom would be small for very large or very tall people and will not be able to share, otherwise just fine in size. My only gripe was that it only had one hook for hanging a towel. I am a very light sleeper and was worried about the AC noise mentioned by other reviewers. Not as loud as mentioned and completely muffled with earplugs. Very professional friendly staff. Highly recommend for travel or business.

Every few years our annual attorneys' conference comes to Asheville, and this year we returned to the Renaissance, conveniently located within a few blocks of everything Asheville! The hotel is twelve stories, with the top floor split between guest rooms and a large room for receptions or other gatherings. The meeting facilities are very good. There is an on-site restaurant which I did not visit on this trip; a small first-floor bar and a large indoor pool (located on the 3rd floor) which my 9-year old grandson totally enjoyed. Directly across the street from the hotel is the Thomas Wolfe (author of Look Homeward, Angel) House. At the rear of the hotel and across the street is Asheville Community Theatre (ACT), which offers entertainment most nights. The hotel also has a spacious outdoor covered patio which was great at this time of year for enjoying the streetside. The bedding was very, very comfortable; love the Aveda toiletries provided. The bathroom was a little small but certainly adequate.

Within just a few blocks of the hotel you will find breweries (try Lexington Avenue Brewery a/k/a LAB on -- of course -- Lexington Avenue) a Marble Slab Creamery, the Mast General Store (see review), oodles of restaurants (favorites are Tupelo Honey and Carmel) and even a spa! Indeed, something for everyone! Large open spaces in downtown for Frisbee throwing or impromptu soccer practice or kite flying!

Visit Pack Square within a couple of blocks, the Grove Arcade with its restaurants (try Carmel) and shops, from handmade soaps and candles to jewelry and antique or art deco furnishings. A short drive will take you to the famous Biltmore House (largest private residence in the country, built by railroad magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt) and the 100-year-old Grove Park Inn (now Omni Grove Park) with its golf course, spa, shops and restaurants.
Also just a couple of miles to enter the Blue Ridge Parkway, for a scenic drive through the mountains. White water rafting, tubing, hiking, golf, outdoor dramas are all nearby. The North Carolina Arboretum is about a 10-minute drive from the hotel.

This was my fourth stay here and I highly recommend the Renaissance.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views of the mountains or the cityscape. Lower floors give the option of...

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in May. We typically stay at the Indigo or down at the Hilton in Biltmore Park but this was a last minute trip and there wasn't much available. The Renaissance had rooms and offered a really good rate, so I booked there based on positive TripAdvisor reviews.
It was great! It looks a bit dowdy and old from the outside, but the interior and the rooms have been renovated and it was very nice. Our room was really large, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and totally updated.
The location of the Renaissance is the best part; once you find a spot and park for free in the hotel lot, you are right in the middle of downtown, so you can just leave the car and walk anywhere to dinner. It is really convenient.
We will definitely stay here again.

The lobby of this downtown Asheville, NC hotel is beautiful. Well designed, easy parking and a wonderful pool. The pool is a heated, salt water pool, they also have a jacuzzi. The locker rooms are clean and well designed and they have a very nice workout room that overlooks the pool. It is an indoor pool, and has lots of windows to see the outside greenery. You can walk everywhere in downtown Asheville from this hotel. I have to say it is my favorite Asheville, downtown hotel by far.

Room Tip: I love the rooms with king beds

I was very disappointed in one of Asheville's "premier" hotels with "deluxe" accommodations. There are a couple of positives and I will start with that. Parking is convenient and free and the location of the hotel is close to the downtown area. What was disappointing is the size of the room (very small), the terrible musty smell in the whole room, the complete lack of ventilation in the bathroom and the general overall lack of cleanliness. Even though the room was booked for two people, there was only coffee for one, not counting the decaff. There was one bottle of water in the hotel room for $4. Overall, I couldn't wait to check out and get some fresh air. I would never return to the hotel.

The Renaissance continues to be a solid offering, located just off of downtown Asheville. The rooms were updated just a few years ago and are holding up well, and the lobby offers an attractive welcome.

An attractive bar just off the lobby offers a nice selection of wine and cocktails. We skipped the restaurant this time in favor of great restaurants nearby, but the hotel restaurant has been solid in the past.

Staff were eager to help in any way, offering suggestions for city events this weekend.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner, mountain view room.
