“Great hotel, perfect downtown location, great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

We stayed at the Renaissance during the Christmas break for 2 nights. We enjoyed hotels where we can park the car and walk and the Renaissance provided this. The hotel is in the downtown core with easy walking to many restaurants, shops and bars. The hotel is in very good shape and is well decorated and very modern. Zeb checked us in and he was just amazing. Made some great restaurant recommendations (LAB, Curate) both were just brilliant. He was friendly and extremely helpful.

Our room was on the 6th floor King bed. On the small size but fine for us. The room was very clean and well laid out. Bed comfortable, soft sheets and pillows. Very quiet, did not hear any outside noise.

We used the gym - cardio equipment was great and there was a fair amount of weight equipment. They have a huge pool which we did not use but it looked nice.

There is a restaurant but there are so many great places to eat in Asheville that we did not eat there. It looked very nice.

Parking was free on right on site, very convenient. Internet was also free. All in all a great stay, I'd stay again and would have no problem recommending it

My wife was traveling with me on a business trip, when we arrived our room wasn't quite ready and the young lady at the front desk went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and brought us out bottled water and chocolates! We had a corner room on the concierge floor and it was very comfortable other than a noisy older heating unit. The concierge lounge was not up to other Marriott properties in it's offerings but met our needs. The gentleman that did the morning shift in the lounge seemed to really not enjoy his job.....time for a career change. A sharp contrast to all the other people that were Very Nice....from the front desk to the bellman, the restaurant staff and the bartenders. Would stay here again when in the area.

We stayed 2 nights in Dec for the Christmas holidays. The hotel is in a wonderful location, we could walk everywhere downtown, come back to the hotel to rest and go in and out again throughout the day.
The lobby is beautiful, so welcoming and well decorated. We were on the 9th floor with club access. The room was very spacious even with 2 queen beds, well equipped with a mini-fridge, and coffee tea machine, and the bedding was very comfortable, we slept so well that it was difficult to force ourselves to get out of bed in the morning. The only downside of the room was the size of the bathroom, it was small and a little difficult to move around.

There are plentiful good restaurants, wonderful shopping with beautuful arts and crafts shops in close vicinity. Walk into the Woolworth Gallery on Patton Ave, it is a treasure trove of wonderful gift items of great craftsmanship. We enjoyed wonderful brunch at Bistro 1896, a sumptous dinner at Bouchons, and if you are in Biltmore Village, have lunch at the Red Stag Restaurant.. yummy.

At the hotel, we really appreciated that even though it was the Christmas Eve/Day holiday, they still served breakfast, lunch and dinner with their usual quality standards of food and service. Even the Club floor lounge was available for breakfast and evening snacks every day.

But what made our stay most enjoyable was the staff, they are the most wonderful asset of the hotel ... they always exchanged smiles and cheerful greetings with all the guests, and were so responsive whenever we needed a helping hand to hold doors open or pick up a dropped item. They seemed to pop up out of nowhere when needed !
.
We thank you all at Renaissance for making our Christmas such a wonderful experience, and we are looking forward to our next visit soon. .

This hotel was the perfect holiday getaway. Newly renovated lobby and restaurant. Rooms, although small, extremely well maintained...clean mattresses, no stains on carpet, big screen tv...just what you would expect from Marriott. Great buffet breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.

Very dog friendly, good location, nice room, fine restaurant and pool, and a lobby that was good for hanging out. We stayed several days over Thanksgiving and it was easy to walk to the shops and restaurants around town. We are big fans of the Renaissance hotels!

What a great staff! We arrived late on a freezing wet night, and Zeb checked us in and made us feel totally welcome. He also gave guests recommendations and tried to steer them to the best local restaurants in Asheville. That's service!

The breakfast was good, and the servers were friendly and fast. I'd absolutely recommend the hotel.

This Marriott is downtown in Asheville, within walking distance of great shops, restaurants and bars. The recently renovated hotel was nicely decorated for Christmas. One problem for Marriott Rewards travelers - the hotel has also been upgraded to a level 6 which means that I wasn't able to use my annual free night and also that it requires more points for a free night. That's too bad, as we love going to Asheville and the location makes this place ideal. The rooms are what you'd expect in a nice Marriott with good beds and nice bathrooms. But very few mirrors which is a pain.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor - the view is great.
