“Best for lunch during a day at the Biltmore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

This was our first visit to Asheville (hope to return!!) so of course planned for a day at the Biltmore Estate. After you make your way by bus or foot from the parking lots and before entering the Biltmore House, you'll see a building to your right, which is the old stable and fittingly the home of the Stable Cafe (also the restrooms to visit prior to the House tour, a nice gift shop and some informal food venues). It's a nice, big restaurant and we decided to eat here following our House tour and before the trek to Antler Hill Village (rather than the restaurants there, e.g. Cedrics). The Stable is a comparatively good value (you ARE a captive customer). For families with children, you might want to consider this choice. Knowing the Biltmore restaurants all have fairly small menus, we were happily surprised as non-red-meat eaters to find a veggie burger on the lunch menu. And it was quite good, along with the sides. The server was a gem and even took our photo; while I'm sure they get asked this a lot, the restaurant was quite busy and he was very pleasant about it.

“Lots of room at the table and nice for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

I enjoyed eating here with my family because there was plenty of room for our bags and coats on a wintery day. The service was excellent and the food proportions were great for the value.

“Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

We visited this cafe when it was decorated for Christmas. I feel it is over priced. You do need to make reservations in advance. The wait staff is polite and professional . We ate upstairs and I recommend this if you are a couple and want to have a better atmosphere with candlelight and a lit Christmas tree during the Christmas season. I ordered the herb chicken and my husband ordered the steak. The steak was average and the vegetable parings could be better. I feel there are less expensive places to eat with fresher ingredients such as , The Corner Kitchen in The Biltmore Villiage but I do recommend you book this way in advance and do not just do a walk in during this time of year.

“Beautiful Candlelight Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

We ate here for dinner during a Candlelight Tour of Biltmore. They were doing a special candlelight 3 course dinner. It consisted of an appetizer, entrée and dessert. I had the Potato Bisque, Roasted chicken with garlic potatoes and broccoli and Egg Nog Bread pudding for dessert. Everything was hot and delicious. It is a little on the pricey side, but if you break it down for everything you receive, it's really not. Eating in the original stables was a treat. I loved the cobblestone floors and the staff was excellent.

“Unique setting; a little pricy but decent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

This setting in the actual stables of the estate made this a welcomed break for lunch. Thought we would have a significant wait time at 12:00 but quite the opposite; we wnt right in and were seated immediately. The food selection was a bit limited but prepared okay; wasn't anything outstanding but staple. We tried the desserts too and for the 3 of us (no alcohol) it ran about $65.00. Wait staff was very attentive; good service. WOuld eat there again.
