This was our first visit to Asheville (hope to return!!) so of course planned for a day at the Biltmore Estate. After you make your way by bus or foot from the parking lots and before entering the Biltmore House, you'll see a building to your right, which is the old stable and fittingly the home of the Stable Cafe (also the restrooms to visit prior to the House tour, a nice gift shop and some informal food venues). It's a nice, big restaurant and we decided to eat here following our House tour and before the trek to Antler Hill Village (rather than the restaurants there, e.g. Cedrics). The Stable is a comparatively good value (you ARE a captive customer). For families with children, you might want to consider this choice. Knowing the Biltmore restaurants all have fairly small menus, we were happily surprised as non-red-meat eaters to find a veggie burger on the lunch menu. And it was quite good, along with the sides. The server was a gem and even took our photo; while I'm sure they get asked this a lot, the restaurant was quite busy and he was very pleasant about it.
