Call for reservations before you come.
Great small plates and Perfect for a group. Sangria only in pitchers but an extensive wine list.

“Food was really the only good part of it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Lets start from the beginning....

1. We called to see if we could get a reservation, they were booked up which we expected so that was fine. However, the hostess was very short and just unpleasant.
2. We walked by the place and decided to go in and ask what time they would suggest we come in that would give us the best luck at getting a seat at the Tapas bar... again hostess were terrible. They looked at us like we were idiots. We were not asking for a specific time, just a general idea of what Friday nights are like. Extremely unhelpful, and the younger hostess was especially rude.
3. The wait-list system is great. We were able to go to another bar and have some cocktails and they text us when we our seats were ready. Loved that.
4. Service - much like the hostess, just very unpleasant and seemed disinterested. We ended up getting more information from the cooks than our server.
5. Sangria - not worth the money; tasted like plain ol' red wine to me. Very disappointed, we love sangria.
6. The food, very tasty. We were so dissatisfied with everything else we decided to only have a couple dishes before going elsewhere. We had the piquillo stuffed peppers (a personal favorite we often make at home), a small charcutterie, and garlic sauteed mushrooms.

I honestly don't know if I would ever go back, which is disappointing since I enjoyed their food. They just really need to work on the quality of service they provide.

“soooo worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

A midday meal between myself and my husband (two hard to please types for different reasons) who left elated! We were walk-ins (reserved tables for call aheads) so we were seated up front. The view of the street's hustle and bustle was entertaining while the service cultivated relaxation :) The restaurant is tapas style but think of five course. The award winning recipes did not fail to deliver and the imaginative drinks warmed us up, too. All staff were on their professional best. Most tables have full view of the kitchen which is amazingly quiet! I enjoyed the relaxed but upscale atmosphere where people could enjoy each bite for its palatability. Our waiter was a true guide. Like Beethoven, its genius is its simplicity.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

My wife and daughter and I ate here on December 26 and had another amazing meal. I went to book a party for June and spoke with Felix the co-owner who has always been very cordial to us. We ordered Patatas Bravas, Jambon trio, Puqillo peppers stuffed with cheese, gambon with garlic, brandade, lamb skewers and a great bottle of Rioja. Service was incredible, food amazing as usual.. Outstanding. One of the best restaurants in Asheville. Katie Button should have won the James Beard award!! Probably our 20th visit to this restaurant and great every time.

“Terrific experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

You can't go wrong here. Everything we had was delicious. Small plates, but enough for two to share. When we called to make a reservation, the only seats available were at the bar, which turned out to be the best seats in the house. The bar faces the kitchen which is a well choreographed marvel and we were entertained watching the various dished being prepared. The service was wonderful and our server was very knowledgable about every dish. If you're in Asheville, Curate should be at the top of your list.
