“Disappointment in Asheville”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012 via mobile

Wife and I vacationed in Asheville and went here on a Friday afternoon for lunch after we decided not to wait 45 minutes to be seated at the nearby Tupelo's. We were surprised the place was DEAD after seeing Tupelo's packed to the gills, and I agree with the other reviewer this should have been a red flag, but we welcomed the quiet, non-crowded environment. But our food was pretty bland. Frozen, reheated fries, stale tortilla chips and mediocre salsa. I got hard shell beef tacos, and they were just ok. Dripping with grease though. My wife got a veggie burger and she said it tasted like a frozen veggie pattie that was just heated up. The food just felt like bad frozen food reheated. We asked for mustard and they brought out a small container that had a date written on it that was 3 weeks old. Not sure what that's about! We ended up barley eating a thing and we just decided to get our bill and go hungry. Meh.

“Awful from start to finish”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Everything about TallGary's Cantina was a disappointment. The menu featured more burgers and sandwiches than Mexican cuisine, which is what you'd expect from a cantina. The place was dead on a Saturday night...that should have been a red flag! Food was awful, no flavor at all. The sweet tea was an insult to the south! I won't be surprised if the place is closed within the year...don't know how its even still open now!

“Cold food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

The food was barely warm when it reached our table. They microwaved it with no grumbling, no apology either - even though it took more than 5 minutes. After the food was made warm, everything was fine.

“TallGary's Catina in downtown Asheville, NC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

On a recent weekend to Asheville, NC, my husband and I went to this great little downtown restaurant, where dogs are welcome on their patio ... TallGary's Catina.
http://www.tallgarys.com/

The food was delicious, my Bloody Mary (from the Bloody Mary bar) was delicious, Doug-our waiter and Gary-the owner were both great. We hooked Purl's leash, our Shih-Tzu, to our table ... she had her own water and a lot of attention. If we're ever in Asheville again, we'll definitely go there!!!!!
