I visited this store because of the Trip Advisor recommendations. I admit that I ran in and out of the store really fast because we had only 20 minutes on the parking meter. It was Saturday afternoon and the place was brimming with customers. I did not even look around the store, I just stopped at the counter where they had the truffles. Truffles are always the best candies in a chocolate shop.
The young lady behind the counter was helpful in explaining what each of the truffles contained. I purchased a box of 12, two boxes of six, and a bag of six for three of us to munch on once we got back to the car.
The truffles are very good. However the "ecstasy" truffles have a very light, almost mousse-like filling, which is not as much to my liking as the regular ones. I wish the server had pointed out this distinction at the point of purchase.
The other observation I have is that the box of 12 was put together as a lovely presentation, with each truffle separated and showcased individually. By contrast, the boxes of 6 truffles each looked like a half dozen undifferentiated pieces of candy crammed in on top of each other in a very tiny box. The 12-piece box is nearly 4 times the size as the 6 piece box. As I was bringing these back to Chicago as gifts for others, those two tiny boxes certainly made a totally different and somewhat disappointing impression on the recipients. People do eat with their eyes first, so the visual presentation is an important factor in the perception of taste and quality. Since the truffles are priced per piece, perhaps a slightly nicer box for a half dozen truffles could be a good idea.
