My then fiance and I are from NYC, but wanted to have a semi-destination wedding and picked Asheville. In desperate search for a venue that had our NYC chic style as well as that Asheville Bohemian rustic style, the Grand Bohemian did not disappoint. While we wanted to get married there, we could not fit our party of 300 there comfortably, so we decided to instead have a cocktail party the night before and stay there on our wedding night.
VALET PARKING: is available just as you drive in, and when you drive in, you already know you are in for a treat, it is a beautiful entrance. I can't remember how much it costs, but it's not much and they are very quick and helpful. The area is not so easy to find parking as there is a shopping center nearby.
LOBBY/STAFF: When you walk in, you are already greeted by beautiful taxidermy, rustic furniture and sexy lighting. The lobby has a beautiful fireplace right in the middle for guests to sit around and hang out. The staff is very quick to greet you with a friendly smile and check you in.
BED ROOM: As far as rooms, we opted to not have the bridal suite but rather a junior suite which is pretty similar but does not have a big wall separating the sleeping area from the living room. This worked out perfectly for me and the bridal party to get ready comfortably in the morning (they even let me order a big group breakfast instead of multiple individual orders, though it was probably more pricey than had I just ordered the same amount in individual!). I loved this setting for my hair and makeup because the photographer had so many different opportunities for beautiful shots. The bed had a huge antler chandelier hanging from the ceiling, there were a couple of pretty statues in the room, and the color and decor are gorgeous -- check their website to get a better idea.
BATHROOM: HUGE, and spacious. Our suite had a large bathtub which opened up to the bedroom area (a picture also available on their website), there was one large sink, and a bathroom 'stall' and shower 'stall' separated from the area by glass doors. The shower had a rain shower head - loved it.
STAFF: given this was the weekend of our wedding, we really had a lot of needs that the staff came through on. If we needed towels, slippers, an extra robe, they were there within minutes. Breakfast was delivered quickly as well even though I'd placed a large order for 7 people during peak breakfast time. From the valet to the front desk and room service, everyone was a pleasure to deal with.
BALLROOM: the ballroom is beautiful with its rustic elegance feel and has a gorgeous terrace. While the setting was optimal, working with the staff and trying to get the menu and drinks right was a little difficult as they have certain requirements that made it complicated and a little regretful to have an event there at all. It's the little things.
All in all, this is a very nice and romantic hotel which is conveniently located right up the street from the Biltmore Estate, though it is quite expensive for what it is.
From what I understand, the junior suite has better lighting and is more spacious than the bridal su...
