If you've never driven slowly through the Fall beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains, don't wait another year. The most Magnificent Artist of Them All paints his creation in colors that must be seen to be believed.

“The best mountains ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

A long time ago, I briefly visited the Blue Ridge mountains. Last week I drove over and around them on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a week. I almost crashed the car daily - it's hard to drive and look at the breathtaking views at the same time. We pulled over at almost every lookout. Even though the majority of the leaves were already gone, it was still an awesome sight. We had planned to take our time and it was a good thing. This parkway is not to be rushed through. First of all, you could be killed if you drove too fast and missed one of the hairpin curves. But the views - OMG! Just gorgeous. Do beware though that from November through April, it's possible that one section or another could be closed. Sometimes the snow and/or ice is too much for a small road. But there are detours that get you back on as soon as possible. We had to miss Mt Mitchell but we went up Grandfather Mt instead - which has a foot bridge that is exactly one mile high. Scary but fun. Visit blueridgeparkway.org to plan fun things along the way. We didn't have time to mine for gems or go ziplining because even though we scheduled free time, we got so hung up on driving through the mountains we didn't have enough free time for those things. Don't regret it at all. Really, a must-see in America like the Grand Canyon. And you can be proud if you're an American taxpayer. There are multiple visitor centers with mini-museums, restrooms, and shops. The museums are awesome and taught us a lot we didn't know about minerals, the history of the area, etc. In another review, I'll talk about a couple of stores we visited that were totally awesome. Go drive through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Their beauty will stay with you forever.

“Must see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

I live in sight of the Parkway near my Pisgah and have traveled it my whole life. It never gets old
The scenery is spectacular and you must eat at the Pisgah Inn if you can. Everything on the menu is good.

“Beautiful Fall Drive on the Parkway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

We took a fall foilage drive south on the Parkway from Hwy 191 out of Asheville and saw some spectacular visits looking back both north and south. The leaves were the right color and the weather was perfect.

Great place put on your bucket list!

“Incredible views!”

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a beautiful route that takes you through the Blue Ridge Mountains. The views are breathtaking, and the historic aspect adds a nice hint of nostalgia. GREAT hiking all along the parkway near Asheville!
