“Simply Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

The Blue Ridge Parkway might be the most beautiful road in the U.S. I recently drove the length of the parkway in Virginia and although it took close to six hours, it was totally worth it. The best part is definitely between Skyline Drive and Roanoke (the northern section) so I recommend driving from the south to save the best part for last. If possible, try to make a least a day of the trip because every few miles there are scenic vistas and places to hike. In fact, you could easily take a week long vacation without leaving the parkway if you were willing to camp.

Definitely check this out as soon as you can.

Be sure to get out of the car and hike! Take the time to be quiet and listen to the sounds of nature and the mountains. This road is unique in all the world!

“Great American Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Have done it now for 42 years and still look forward to coming again. I am always amazed at the foresight of those who designed and built this treasure, and I thank them. Make sure you get out and walk some trails or do some hikes.
Did the entire BRP last year for the first time. Every part is special. My favorites are in the mm 410 - 430 due to the higher elevations and vistas.

“Drive north from Asheville”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

We drove from Asheville to Little Switzerland over the weekend. It was about 2 hours with a few brief stops. We had driven about 20 miles south from Asheville the day before, and found the drive north from Asheville to be even better.

The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. with mountains, rivers and waterfalls. Fall color wasn't at peak yet, but when it is, it must be amazing. There are places to do extended hikes, as well as places to camp if you want to make a longer trip out of it.
