It is dificult to conceive that literally everything that you can see from the Vanderbuilt estate used to belong to a single individual. It was definately a different era. The home is more of a castle thn a home, but it is remarkable. We went on the Butler's and Architect's tours in addition to the regular tour. I would highly recommend them both. The restaurant that is in the converted stables was very good and relatively reasonable. Much better fare than in Antler village. The gardens were especially breathtaking, especially the orchid room! Wow. So much to see. It took us most of two days to see it all.
