“Definitely Comfort Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

We love anything 'moose' so had to stop for 'linner' as we call it (lunch/dinner). Definitely not something I'd eat everyday but oh so good and unhealthy. The huge compimentary biscuits they serve with apple butter was worth the stop. My meatloaf sandwich was 'good' not great and I ended up just eating as a piece of meatloaf and not a sandwich as the bun got soggy. My husband's ham was very good (not the salty kind) and our sides of pinto beans and cole slaw were both excellent. We also splurged on blackberry cobbler and it was excellent. I believe for dinner they serve 'family style' if you wish but we were too early for that and that would be too much for two people. Definitely recommend if in the area.

“mooserable”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

This restaurant's food is unhealthy, salt filled, and bland. With all the good options in Asheville, why go here?

“Comfort Food Served Fresh”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

The Moose Cafe, located at the Asheville farmer's market, serves southern style comfort food made with what seem to be fresh ingredients. This was my fourth visit and three were good visits and on one visit I guess they had an “off-day,” but only a little "off." On my latest visit I enjoyed a good meal of fried chicken (two pieces, white meat), mashed potatoes with gravy, baked onion, corn bread and a biscuit and apple butter. I enjoyed it all, but the onion was especially good. My server was very prompt and friendly too. If you go during peak times you will likely have to wait a little but if you like country style cooking it will be worth it.

“Home cooking at it's best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Great value. I suggest you order from the family style all you can eat menu. In addition to the fresh biscuits and apple butter you get a choice of unlimited entree servings 5 sides, 2 gravies and cornbread for $12.99, $10.99 for Seniors. Your beverage is included. The chicken and fish we chose were delicious as were the sides. My only criticism is that the sides should have been hotter.

“Home Cookin' with a Mountain View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

Asheville is an arts community nestled in the North Carolina mountains. The city is filled with Art Deco buildings, street corner musicians, art galleries and plenty of tie-dyed residents.

When it's time to eat and you are looking for good country cooking, the Moose Cafe is your spot. Located a short distance from downtown the Moose Cafe is located next to the Asheville farmer's market. That should give you a hint that the vegetables are fresh and fantastic!

The portions are generous and the service is friendly and is the epitome of good old down home. Cracker Barrel ain't got nothin' on the Moose Cafe.

Ask for a window table in the back of the restaurant. You can see the Biltmore Estate in the distance (you need to know what you are looking for). In the morning you can see the sun rise over the mountains.
