“Enjoyed the upgraded modern room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2009

Spent a night at this hotel during a work trip and found it to meet the high Marriott standard. The room that I had on the 3rd floor looks like it had been recently updated with modern new furniture, wallpaper, etc. all of which was very comfortable. The hotel offered a couple of computers for accessing internet in addition to free internet in my room, an indoor pool and small weight room. Breakfast was not included in the price of the room, but was reasonably priced and offered several freshly cooked options. The hotel is located about 2.5 miles from downtown Asheville. Though there are other hotels nearby, there did not seem to be much in the way of restaurants (other than Caraba's Italian Grill) nearby.
The front desk was speedy and efficient.

This hotel was close enough to downtown, restaurants, etc. Average room but clean and quiet.

For the money, this was a good basic hotel. The staff was very friendly.... but the place looked like it needed a bit of an overhaul....

We only paid 76$ the night we stayed because they have a government/military rate and my husband is active military. For this price, it is well worth it. It is an older hotel, but it was clean and the service was good, could have been because we are Marriott Rewards members. Close location to downtown, about 10$ cab ride for us (only 1.5 miles from downtown).

  • Liked — Location to downtown and fairly clean
  • Disliked — Old hotel, and pool is inside, not out in the sun!

We just stayed at this hotel. It is far below average Marriott standards. The room was on the third floor, 328. The hotel needs renovation. The bathroom was flat out ugly, especially the Jacuzzi tab. Also way overpriced for the hotel of this class. Next to it is Hampton Inn, which would have been a better option.
Also, do not choose the room/breakfast option. It is cheaper to buy breakfast there. Our room rate was $20 more expensive with the breakfast, where breakfast cost was something like $12 for two.

Very nice budget hotel right off Tunnel Road in Asheville. Close to downtown, the mall and easy to access. Nice indoor pool and outdoor sundeck. The staff was very friendly. Beds were nice and bathrooms clean.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2007

The check in process was smooth and the lobby was small but clean and neat.

The room was on the second floor. They use a generous amount of Febreeze. Once the air got going, it improved the stuffiness of the room. All amenities were standard hotel issue.

One concern about housekeeping - linens were not changed the one night I was there and dirty coffee cups and water glasses were not removed and replaced. Towels were changed, but one of my fresh towels had a red stain on it ... I don't want to know what it was.

For the price, I would have expected something nicer.

Also , be warned if you stay in the winter, the access road to the hotel is extremely steep and treacherous in icy condition. Warning signs are posted, but it is the only way in or out.

  • Liked — convenient location, friendly front desk staff
  • Disliked — housekeeping with some room for improvement
