Recent stay for four nights to visit the area and see the Biltmore. Great hotwire rate, making it half the cost of nearby competing chain properties. Well maintained, and looked more expensive than it was. Located near an old shopping mall that is being demolished and rebuilt.
Parking was adequate with some large trucks taking multiple spots, late comers park in the last couple of spaces in the back. Signs warn of towing from the former mall lot, so apparently this is often an issue.
Friendly, competent desk. Maids did a fine job. Breakfast attendants were just okay. As many have noted, seating at breakfast is very limited. Trays provided to carry your food to your room, a banquet room, or lobby chairs. Supply of free US Today newspaper was exhausted early each day. Breakfast food was the usual low quality, mediocre food offered at these places.
Window AC/heat units were not very good at circulating room air. No separate switched exhaust fan in bathroom (I hate that). Large TV had 100 channels including multiple HBO' s, Showtime, etc. Major issue was the way too squishy, soft bed. Not comfortable at all.
would we stay here again? Sure if we got a very cheap rate again. But there are dozens of close by chain hotels...they're all pretty much the same....we'll go for the best deal.
