We decided to spend New Years with friends who live in Asheville. We chose the Haywood because it was downtown and central to everything. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The room was Grand, clean and well cared for. Every amenity you could think of was available. Staff was very helpful and attentive to our needs. Location was excellent. All shopping, restaurants were in walking distance and the shopkeepers we encountered were the friendliest we've ever found. I drink a lot of water - primarily bottled. I could not belieview how good the tap water tasted. It was excellent!! This history of the hotel added to its ambience.

If there was any negative - it would have to relate to the time of year we chose to visit. The hotel restaurant and piano bar was not open. We will most definitely visit again and recommend this hotel highly.

The hotel is in an excellent location and the room sizes are large, but that is it. The hotel has no restaurant, not even coffee in the morning. For over $325 per night, I expect more. One other favorable thing is that, for being right down town, it was very quiet.

Great Hotel in the heart of downtown Asheville, NC. .The staff was great and very accommodating. I stayed in just the basic room with a king sized bed, the room was very nice, clean and spacious. The bathrooms are also very spacious, allowing room for two sinks, a shower,a jacuzzi tub and a nice sized flatscreen TV visable from all angles of the room. There was also a seperate powder room that connected to main bathroom, which had its own sink, closet, and plenty of mirrors. The main room was very large and provided ample room to lounge around, enjoy the comfortable sofa and large flatscreen TV. There was also a large picture window that gave a great view of the downtown area.

Along with the quality service the location was perfect for exploring the city of Asheville for the first time. Right when you walk out the front door you are exposed to the cultural center of Asheville. There are many nice nearby restaurants, bars, coffee shops, clothing and retail shops and art galleries in very short walking distance, many even just right across the street. Although the Haywood is not a mountain side resort it is only about a ten minute drive to the Biltmore and I-40. I will definately stay at the Haywwod the next time I'm back in Asheville. Would highly recommend for business or pleasure.

we spent 2 nights in Haywood hotel and were pleased by the property. Rooms are big, bathrooms are very nice with marble floors and vanities. The hotel is located in the center of downtown of Asheville, very close to everything. Only 1 minor thing. All rooms except the grand king suite have relatively small bathtabs, kinda tight for 2 tall people. But if you dont have a habit to take a bath together, you can disregard my comment re the bathtab. The staff is very warm and helpful. I cam also recommend the Early girl eatery for breakfest, 2 mins of walking
