Garlic Mike's provided us with our best meal on a ten day trip. You can sit either inside or on an outside deck overlooking the Gunnison River. The drinks were great and larger than one normally gets in a restaurant. The food was spectacular and the service was timely and appropriate. It's too bad it is not located in our home area -- we'd go all the time.

It's not just the best Italian food in the area, it's great Italian food!

The service has been excellent every time I've been there, even when the place was crowded.

Mike, the owner (yes, Virginia, there IS a Garlic Mike), is almost always there and attentive, but with a staff as well trained as his, things will run smoothly whether he's there or not.

It's decor is similar to any number of Italian restaurants I've enjoyed in Chicaco - rustic tables, with racks of ingredients along one wall. You can see the chefs preparing your meals from most of the restaurant.

In the 5 years I've lived here, I've never been disappointed by the food here. It's consistenly excellent.

A very good wine list and great desserts round things out.

It's not cheap, but it consistently wins local awards for the "best place to take a date", "best Italian food", and "best chef". Not to mention "best brunch" - if you're in town Sunday morning, check out their excellent brunch buffet.


It is tied with Joseph's for the best restaurant in town for my money.
