“Good Value, Nice Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2010

Last minute reservation was easy to make. Price was good! Older property but well maintained. Staff was friendly, and check in was easy. Room was clean and comfortable. Could feel some springs in the bed, but not so bad that it prevented a good night's rest. The continental breakfast could have been better stocked.

Check in was smooth, we unpacked in our hotel room on the first level next to the pool. The beds were nice and the bathroom looked great! There were dead mosquitoes around the sink but if that was the only thing gone wrong at the hotel after all day of other various problems, then I was content cleaning the counters off with a couple kleenex's.
Problem was, this wasn't the only thing that could go wrong. The internet didn't work. We had packed our laptop in anticipation of "free wireless internet" promised online to help plan our daily activities. So when we went to tell them it wasn't working, they already knew this but failed to tell us. They offered for us to switch to a room where the internet did work. But they didn't show us having checked in yet. (Which we had already done but the clerk didn't do it right) So switching took an additional five minutes. They moved to us to a room on the other side on the second level. The beds were not as nice, lumpy comforters, but no mosquitoes this time. The internet worked, but the toilet runs every hour or so.
All in all the housekeeping is great, changing the sheets and towels daily. Nothing has gone missing. The continental breakfast is good, some days they serve bacon. All in all the week here has been pleasant. I would recommend this place as a good place to get close to the Everglades, Biscayne park, south beach is only 45 minutes away, and Key West is a little over 2 hours away.

  • Liked — The Location is perfect!
  • Disliked — I should have been informed of any problems with the room ahead of time.

The Elderhostel organization choose this hotel for its convenience to highway to Key West and to the Everglades. Check-in was terrible. Even though reservations were made in advance with all credit checked, slow moving clerk made each person ( 24 guests and 2 guides!) show identification. Mosquitoes got in room before we did. Went down hill from there. In tub (shower head did not work), the hot water knob spun around and around before emitting a stream that would allow me to kneel and splash water on myself. Had to rinse by filling ice bucket with water, then dumping water on myself. Police came in the middle of the night to arrest to robbers staying as guests a few rooms from us. Refrigerator did not work. Thin towels and pillows. Uncomfortable mattress. Need I say more? Would be worthwhile to drive further rather than stay here.

  • Liked — Continental breakfast sufficed!
  • Disliked — Broken things, bedding, shower facilities

I spent a week at the Ramada Limited in Homestead while playing in a baseball tournament. At first, the hotel might seem very basic, but truth be told, this place is great. The rooms are clean. There is a free breakfast in the morning. The staff is very helpful. The location is great, as many shopping areas and restaurants are nearby. The best part of the hotel is definitely the pool area. While not nearly as nice as resorts in Miami, this was impressive for a Ramada Limited. Relaxing by the pool was great. All in all, for Homestead, this is the place to stay!
