“A pleasant little hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We stayed for a few days this summer as a jump off to the Everglades and to visit family while we were in the area. The hotel is in an old historic building in Homestead, FL. It is two stories without an elevator so either request a ground floor room (for handicap access) or enjoy the stairs!

Mark, the owner, was very attentive and was always available for recommendations, directions and just good old conversation. Since we were there during their slow season (mid July) it was very quiet. The hotel itself is very quaint but the bathrooms are updated and there was an updated HDTV in the room with lots of viewing options.

The room comes with a continental breakfast so unless you're used to a full, farmhouse breakfast you're able to get on your way to your activity pretty easily.

All in all I'd say this is a nice little gem in Homestead if you're not interested in a name brand hotel chain to garner more points.

Room Tip: The upstairs corner room is nice, it has a door as opposed to a slider.

This quite Hotel is one of the last historical sites in the booming Homestead Area. From the moment you walk in you are greeted warmly by the staff and attended to the whole entire time of your stay. The food at the hotel restaurant "The Whistle Stop" was phenomenal. The menu is traditional southern cuisine with a few hidden speciality plates. I personally had the chicken and dumplings plate, let's just say I would have licked the plate if no one was watching lol. Even if your just stopping through it makes for a quick getaway into this town lost country heritage.

Room Tip: I would personally choose a room on the second floor that shares the balcony. Each room is uniquely...

Snuck away for a quiet weekend in Homestead, July 12 and 13. Charming turn-of-the-century hotel, decorated with knickknacks from the era . Plenty of off-street parking behind the hotel. We stayed in a corner room on the second story. The room had all the usual creature comforts...HDTV, icy cold AC, nice toiletries, great water pressure in the shower, wireless wifi. Basic but satisfying continental breakfast in the morning, as well as a full-service restaurant serving "down-home" food (which we didn't have the opportunity to try).

The exceptionally gracious host made the stay so comfortable and enjoyable. You don't get such "want-to-please" service in a chain hotel. We'll be back!

Quiet and private - shared balcony was not problem with privacy film on sliding door. Mark was cheerful and helpful - and prompt with coffee in the morning. (Confusing street grid in Homestead is NOT the hotel's fault).
Far better than what we saw of several old motor hotels in the area. Easy access to Robert is Here fruitstand, Publix supermarket, and entrance to Everglades National Park.

Room Tip: Enjoyed the access to balcony in back where there were tall tress.

Quaint overnight stay after traveling to Key West, the staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed on a night when business was slow, so our stay was very quiet and peaceful. Our room was pretty basic, but adequate, with charming decorations. We were even taken to our room and shown around, which was very nice. The restaurant on property was nice for dinner as well.

Definitely a unique place, owners are very helpful with advise on local attractions. It's an old historical building, with everything that goes with it - noisy AC etc., but they definitely did all they could to make it more modern while keeping the charm. Very conveniently located for the Everglades, dining, shopping and local attractions. Breakfast was scarce though - could be better!

We wanted to stay close to the Everglades but were unexcited by the large number of chain motel options. Then we came across the Redland and read some really positive reviews. They were right. It's a great location for visiting the Everglades and provided a really welcoming place to come back to in the evenings. The staff were all really helpful, the room comfortable and it has a nice bar/restaurant. We also had excellent entertainment one night in the form of one of Prince's touring band singing/playing in the bar. Would definately stay again.
