“Excellent and educational.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

This small museum is worth the visit (especially if you are on the way to Bandelier, because there is nothing else to see in Los Alamos). Not only are the science displays very well done and accessible for all ages above 7, the museum recaps one of the most important eras during WWII. There are many copies of unclassified original documents that are worth reading. It is appalling that the brightest minds of the era came together here to build a bomb that would kill more than 200000 humans. The letter of Albert Einstein to President Roosevelt warning about the dangers of nuclear research is particularly touching.

“4 years that changed the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013 via mobile

This museum covers the birth of the atomic era - warts and all. It covers the history of atomic discovery, theory, and practical application in a race to secure cultural diversity. It has terrific films, brain teasers, and interactive displays. My son - headed to a technical college this year - got a heavy dose of the magic and ethics involved in technical careers. It's great to see the breadth of fields Los Alamos and the other National Labs are engaged - solar, space, biofuels, sustainability, global climate change, etc. the museum also addresses forestry issues and measures to protect the local community from wildfires.

A great overview of what Los Alamos was for and is for. Lots of history. Lots of hands on buttons for little ones. Displays are very well done. And free!
