I am reluctant to write this review as I feel I am revealing to the public a grand secret that we have kept for some time. After all, we are known as the "secret city" since WW II. I chuckle every time I hear Pajarito Ski "Hill". At an altitude of 10, 441 feet, this "hill" is taller than any mountain I skied in PA, MD or WV. There are over 40 trails on 300 skiable acres with a 400 foot vertical drop. There is very little, correction...NO wait for the lift lines. The lift price is reasonable. Perhaps the only negative is that it is only open on the weekends, 3 weeks at Christmas and also open on Federal holidays...as long as there is snow. Check the weather reports! Our Pajarito Mountain is located on the eastern edge of the Jemez Mountains in north central New Mexico, 5 miles west of Los Alamos. (My awesome hometown.) It comprises around 750 acres of land, privately owned by Los Alamos Ski Club, that was developed as a ski area in the late 1950's. The mountain has great views to the east over the Rio Grande Valley towards the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and from the top, to the west over the Valle Grande. A variety of excellent overnight lodging ranging from B&B's to chain hotels are available in Los Alamos, only 5 miles away.
