“A beautiful place to visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

Everyone should see this at least once. Last time I was there in August the waterfalls on the left were dry but in spring they are a sight to see. Standing on the edge looking down at the Rio Grande is so quiet and peaceful. Take time to visit! From Los Alamos take route 4 to White Rock. Left at the first light, left at the first side street and follow the signs. You will be glad you did. No food, no water, no facilities here but it's free and a great place for a picnic. Permanent public restrooms are at the softball field on the right just before you get to Overlook Park.

“Do Not Miss This!!!! And it's free.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

This little gem is 2 minutes from the main road at the Bandelier National Monument Visitors Center. It's tucked in back of a city park with baseball diamonds and a recycling center but don't let that fool you. The view from the edge is awesome! Be careful with dogs and small children, the viewing platform has a railing but the walkway leading up to it is very close to a drop off.

“You can see Colorado and canyons from here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

I never expected a view like this in the back of a neighborhood in White Rock. Wow. Vast canyons and a 280 degree view. The Blue dot trail leads from here as well. A 5 minute drive from town and you are in canyon country with no civilization ion the horizon. Great find.

“A lovely vista”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

If you are in Los Alamos County, a quick drive to the Overlook is worth the time. It is located in White Rock about a mile drive from State Route 4.

The overlook looks down over the Rio Grande River and across the Espanola valley to the Sangre de Christo Mountains. Quite a lovely view. I always take visitors.

There are some hiking trails in that area, but they are not well marked and better taken with someone familiar with the area.

“Nice place to go to see the view”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

White Rock overlook is a conveniently accessed location to view the Rio Grande and Black Mesa from a thousand feet up. The views are excellent and the pastoral surroundings very calming. The only reason I rate this as "average" is that New Mexico is full of such views, and so this is on par with many other great views.
