“Aztec Ruins - Don't Miss This NPS Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

If you are doing the traditional Albuquerque - Chaco Canyon - Durango - Mesa Verde route be sure to visit Aztec Ruins National Monument. Start your visit by watching the informational video, which enables the visitor to connect the dots between Aztec, Chaco as well as the current pueblos. The NPS has done an excellent job providing an informational booklet to follow the well marked sites; making the visit interactive, as well as educational. You are able to walk -be sure to duck your head- through the excavated portion of the ruins getting a sense of what life might have been like. The final part of the tour is the Great Kiva - enter quietly and you will hear drums. The NPS staff are quite knowledgeable and happy to answer questions about the traditions and history of the ruins.

“Extremely worthwhile”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

This NPS site is very informative and for a change had both my wife's and my attention. A great park that helps history come alive by both seeing the actual ruins, watching the film beforehand and by the NPS park booklet that is given to you when you pay to enter. (Return at the end) It was helpful and informative.

The rangers and volunteers were all very friendly and helpful. A great Park.

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

This is a great place to visit. It is partially reconstructed but you are able to actually walk through the cliff dwellings, and it is very easy to imagine how they looked in ancient times. The people here are helpful and it is a very well kept site. I highly recommend it. The tour is self guided and they give you a book to explain the different stops.

“Excellent Puebloan History Lesson”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Amazing ruins with a fascinating reconstructed Great Kiva. The site is small and an easy walking tour you can do at your own pace or go on one of the scheduled Ranger guided tours. A hand out you get at the front desk provides an excellent description that follows the numbered path. Make sure to see the introduction video before you go out to the site, it is very informative and gives you some good background. All of the rangers and staff were very friendly and helpful. It just takes an hour or so (if you go slow) but definitely worth the visit. The ritual drums and chanting in the Great Kiva are a nice touch.

“Interesting Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Good place to see ancient Indian ruins. Some are restored, some not. However, if you're not up to the tailbone jarring ride out to Chaco Canyon, this would be your preferred destination.
