My husband and i paid almost $300 to attend the New Year's Eve celebration at the Atlantic Hotel and were terribly disappointed in the evening. The event had been billed as upscale and sounded lovely. However, from the moment we arrived, things seemed less than had been promised. Instead of being seated with a group of people as we had requested when they asked our preference, we were seated alone. That, however, was the least of our disappointments. Upon ordering his first glass of wine, my husband asked our waitress to keep an eye on us throughout the evening and was assured that she would; however, there were instances that she disappeared for great lengths of time and we spent time waiting and searching for her. We were later told that our event was not their only job for the evening! Appetizers and drinks were to be served in a separate room about an hour before the affair began so that couples could mingle and enjoy. However, that was not the case. Appetizers were served in the same room as the event. This, too, could have been fine if there had been an adequate amount of appetizers served. There was not. In addition, the appetizers were weak and not up to par with the rave reviews the woman who booked our tickets had extolled. (We were not the only ones who felt this way.) Dinner was a disaster! Our lobsters were overcooked, rubbery and cold by the time they served. Whatever was in the stuffing was unappealing and undesirable, and the dessert could have been from a box! What a let down. i had to use the ladies' room and found that it was the same restroom that all the customers in the Drummer's Cafe AS WELL AS those who had come to enjoy the outdoor festivities out in the street were using which meant a long, cold (the door was constantly being opened and closed as those who had come in from the outside merely to use the restroom returned) wait. It definitely took all the glamour and class out of having attended what was billed as an upscale evening with entertainment. The entertainment was not bad but even in the tiny room designated for this event, one could barely hear what the girl was singing. At the end of the evening, everyone was surprised to learn that our credit cards had not been swiped upon our making the reservations and thus, we all had to go thru that with waitresses figuring out whose bill was whose. All bills were different depending upon the alcoholic beverages consumed. Needless to say, we shall not return again.
