“Yummy Hickory Grilled Salmon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

The mustard sauce for my salmon was really wonderful. I popped in for lunch and this
unexpected gourmet touch was lovely. The accompanying mashed cauliflower was
refreshing, given the overload of mashed potatoes over the holidays. My friend's filet
was perfectly cooked and accompanied by delicious mushrooms in brown sauce.
Good job!

“Atmosphere, food, service are all great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

This month I have been here twice for business lunch and dinner. The waitstaff is nice and accommodating. The place is located in tysons corner mall. The surroundings are nice, the decor is nice. I always eat the wood fried filet and it is the best. Medium rare makes the best taste. I have ordered this many times and have never been disappointed. The only thing is the cost. It is a little expensive even for Tyson's corner. But on a business trip price does not apply.

“Retro Florida dining with Latin overtones”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

I'm not a big seafood fan but I really enjoyed the pecan encrusted trout. The portion was huge and came with an exceptionally tasty citrus sauce coucous with almonds. There are a lot of shellfish on the varied menu - plenty of shrimp, crab, and lobster dishes. Everything was very fresh: the seafood, bread basket offerings, salad with goat cheese. The atmosphere was fun - I got a kick out of my tropical drink that came with a stick of sugar cane which you chew as you drink; attractive surroundings with retro murals on the walls.

“Another Great American Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

Being a veteran of Sweetwater Tavern - one of the sister establishments in the Great American Restaurants "chain" - I had relatively high expectations for Coastal Flats on my first visit. Looking at their menu I noticed some similarities, but I was also aware that there was more of an emphasis on seafood at Coastal Flats.

The restaurant, located indoors on the lower level of the Tyson's Corner Mall, was relatively busy for Saturday lunch. Without a reservation, we waiting approximately five minutes to be seated which seemed more than reasonable. Service was friendly and worked well as a team - clearly a point of emphasis at these restaurants. We ordered a lobster roll and grilled jumbo shrimp, and both dishes were delicious. There was room for improvement, but I suspect that this restaurant aims more for consistency (which I have no problem with) rather than taking risks to go for the ultimate flavor (sometimes that does not pan out).

“Consistently Tasty!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

The food here is very reliable. I have been happy with each meal here. While I wouldn't normally pursue a meal at the mall, this exception. The service was really prompt and the servers seem to work effectively as a team. We will be back for more.
