“Older Motel, Good Location, Super Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

We've stayed here a couple of times. The location is fabulous..just off the main drag one block. The main street is highway 191 that runs from border to border and is a truck route. Just being that one block off cuts away all that noise. The rooms are small but there was a fridge and coffeemaker. For the Canadians missing out on their Tims fix ,the fridge is there for your cream and you can bring your can of coffee and you won't be missing your morning "double double" The bathroom doesn't have a vent fan so the window in the shower bay is open so the humidity in the room can be dispersed but by leaving this window open dust can migrate in making it a little difficult to keep this room spotless. Had a minor issue with it and the staff looked after us right now. Very nice to deal with. The parking in the lot can be a little tight but there is lots of available parking on the street. Another nice touch is that you get a guest card that saves you a bit on gas at the City Market grocery store on the south part of town and can save you some money on the food you buy as well. If you're looking for a mint on the pillow and valet parking, this place isn't for you but if you like things inexpensive, simple and friendly this motel is a very good fit.

Room Tip: Room 1 was a good size

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. I'm happy to hear you were pleased with our staff and service as those are the things we strive to provide. Some of the things that come with a motel built in the 50's are not easy to change (like the size of the parking lot and vent fans in the bathroom), so we focus on the things we can do, like service and value. I'm glad we achieved our goal with you. Come see us again sometime!

We stayed at the Inn Towner Suites for two nights while we toured Arches N.P. Check in is at the Lodge location which we had a little trouble finding in the dark. They were extremely welcoming and helpful at check in giving us directions to restaurants and the local grocery store. I also liked that they had a savers card for the grocery store attached to the room key.

After check in we drove the two blocks to the inn towner suites. It was dark and no lights to indicate the location. After stumbling around in the dark we did locate the gate to the suites. It would be helpful if there was a light to illuminate the sign (that we saw the next morning). The suite was very spacious and more than enough room for our family of 4. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and included a full size stove/oven and refrigerator. It was nice to cook breakfast and pack lunches for the day.

There was no dish soap or trash bags, but I had brought along our own as I did not know what to expect. Perhaps they are supplied and it was just not restocked? The onsite hot tub was a nice touch after a long day of hiking.

We would definately stay here again just for the roominess and kitchen.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad to hear the staff was friendly and helpful - that is our goal. I'm sorry the Inn Towner was so dark upon your arrival. We have been trying solar lighting (which you would think would work well in Moab!), and it has, unfortunately, been unreliable. We may have to go back to electric for guest comfor and safetyt. Eco friendly dish soap is definitely something we supply, so that was an oversight by housekeeping. Apologies. As a green property, we do not provide plastic trash can liners, instead we use waste baskets and garbage cans that can easily be wiped out. We've found that most people do use the bags they get at the grocery store which is a better alternative to providing trash can liners and having the grocery bags thrown away. This information is on the in-room welcome sheet, but we may need to do a better job of explaining it to guests. You probably noticed we didn't have any throw-away items in the room for the same reason. Come see us again sometime!

Stayed here one night as part of a 17 day trip "out west" with my family (wife and two daughters, 12 and 14). I had stayed here before on a mountain bike trip with a bunch of guys. It's clean, quiet, easy walking distance to the main drag, bright colors (my daughters loved that) and small, but unique bathroom.

The Kokopelli Lodge is a great location; within walking distance of everything in downtown Moab. It is also convenient to both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, as well as Dead Horse Point State Park. This is what I would consider a "Mom and Pop" motel, as opposed to a large chain. The room was quite adequate - it has a closet, and a nightstand on either side of the bed. There is a desk which is helpful for both coffee making and computer using. For the age of the place, there are quite a few outlets for charging devices. The bed was comfortable. There is a small frig, small microwave and a coffee maker. We used all of them during our 4 day stay and all were in working order. The bathroom has a small stall shower. The shower pressure is not always top notch. The bath is my only minor complaint about the place. The price during peak season is in the $80 range, which is manageable. Fortunately, most people that stay here have spent the day outside doing activities, so the nights are quite quiet. Very nice staff!

I stayed at Kokopelli lodge during my weeklong stay in Moab and it was the perfect base of operation for accessing all of the sights and adventures in the area. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff are warm and inviting. It was also nice to chat with other travelers staying at the lodge and share experiences. The hot tub is a real treat after long days out on trails in Arches or Canyonlands, and the grill on premises is a nice option as well to have a BBQ on the front lawn. Room comes with a small fridge, coffee machine, and microwave.

The location is also terrific, all of the restaurants and bars in Moab are only a short walk away from the lodge but its nice that the Kokopelli is not on the main drag.

The only caveat I'd offer is you need to provide your own soap for showering, but not a big deal. There's a grocery store nearby that can provide all of your needs.

I highly recommend Kokopelli lodge for a short or long term stay in Moab and as a terrific base for accessing all of the sights and adventure in the area!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I agree that our staff is exceptional. I'm glad the Lodge suited your needs., and I do apologize about the shower soap - it certainly is something we provide for guests and I have no explanation as to why you didn't have any. Come stay again sometime and I promise you soap!

Pros: Peaceful, quaint, quiet, clean, hot tub, and grill. I would recommend staying here as opposed to a chain like a Best Western because you definitely get a better feel of this city in a lodge like this.

Cons: Office is open only during certain times so if you need something you better schedule your trips to the office. Bathroom needs some updating. Also - bring your own shampoos and soaps - they don't have anything.

Thank you for your comments. I am so glad you enjoyed what the Kokopelli Lodge offers. The soap issue was an oversight that has since been resolved. We do offer shampoo and conditioner, if requested, at the office - we simply don't have all the disposable items you typically find at motels. You probably noticed things like the ceramic mugs for coffee instead of styrofoam, and no trash can liners. Yes, office hours are the 8 hours each day that serve the most guests. There is someone who lives on sight and always answers the emergency number posted in each room. Reduced office hours is one of the things that allow us to offer some of the lowest room prices in Moab. Come see us again sometime!

I wish I could give this a higher rating, but we had unresolved plumbing issues. The suites have a great kitchen, small living room with extra sleeping on sofa. The bedroom is large and had two extra twin beds. The suites are just delightful! The accomodations could easily handle six people if none of you need total privacy. I would go back if I knew they would resolve any plumbing issues, finding a bathroom at 3 am isn't fun.

Room Tip: If you have more than two people consider the suites.

Thank you for your feedback and kind comments despite the plumbing problems! We do have emergency numbers in each room and someone on call at all times, but in this case, we couldn't have resolved the issue without a plumber (who discovered that a previous guest had flushed 2 wash clothes down the toilet. Nice). I know you were compensated for your trouble, but that doesn't take away the inconvenience. I hope you will give us another chance when you next visit Moab.
