“Reunion 2013”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

We loved this hotel. The rooms are nothing fancy but are very clean and comfortable. The balcony of our room was next to the Colorado River and what a view it was. It is worth the month to have a view like this. The staff was very good. I have no complaints and would go back. It is a little ways back to Moab but we knew this when we got the reservation.

Room Tip: make sure you get the room where you can see the river really good.

This hotel has a beautiful location. The restaurant has a fantastic view. The staff was very friendly. On the downside, it is quite further out of town than I expected. So, that's it. You won't be heading out to partake of the Moab nightlife, after dinner. To much chlorine in the pool. The rooms are underwhelming. Nothing bad to report here, just not worth the money or the rave reviews.

Loved this place and it's movie museum on the property. The river and red rocks were stunning and we woke up to horses outside the patio in the morning. It was lovely and the most perfect night. We fed the horses apples and petted them while they were in the coral. The breakfast was great too. Very nice place. I would totally stay here again.

Our family spent 7 nights and 8 days in Moab. It was wonderful. However, we have been there before.... some several years ago. I decided to do something a little different this time and stay in two different places. The kids tend to get a little spoiled so we stayed in a cabin the first 4 nights. The last 3 nights were spent at Red Cliffs Lodge. We had a great time. The rooms were clean and tidy. There were tennis courts that were free and available to us so we spent some time there in the evenings. It was a little (can I even say that with temperatures that soared at 115 degrees during the day?) cooler at night and the courts were lighted. They had a small pool but we did not partake in that because we were always out doing other things. Onsite were also horses so you could go on a trail ride, which we did. The kids loved it! Outside our door was a tether ball. I had one as a kid and hadn't seen one in ages. There was a small gift shop inside along with a restaurant. One evening we ordered some food and took it to our room. They had it nicely packaged in an insulated container to keep it warm--nice touch. People were nice and friendly. Definitely a place that I would return to.

Room Tip: We had a creekside room which was "ok". We didn't really had that great of a view of...

Stayed here on our 3rd of 11 nights round canyonlands & up to Yellowstone. Hence had to stop in Moab. But this lodge is brilliant. Excellent family room in Queen cabin by the river. Good restaurant & food. Service excellent. View is brilliant. It's hot, as it's in a canyon, but what do you expect & the air-conditioning was switched on prior to our arrival which meant the room was cool.
No complaints at all. Definitely a place to stop if you are in the area.

Room Tip: Excellent place for a family to stay.

I like to dine where the location is a big part of the ambiance. Watching the sunset over the Colorado River and see the red rock buttes turn crimson was an experience I will never forget. We had 7 pm reservations (made several weeks in advance) and were able to sit on the patio. Casual but stunning views. The rolls were yummy yeast right out of the oven. My prime rib was very good and a thick cut. Fresh vegetables as well. Downstairs in the Lodge there is an extensive free movie museum. It has artifacts from the many, many movies and comercials filmed in the area. Quite interesting. We were glad we chose this spot. A nice additon to our Moab trip.

Room Tip: Did not stay at the Lodge but felt welcome at the restaurant.

We stayed at Red Cliffs Lodge for 2 nights as part of a long trip round the Rockies and beyond and we are really pleased we did!

The only town around here is Moab which acts as the Gateway to Arches National Park. It serves its purpose with a long main street of hotels, motels and restaurants as well as adventure trip companies - but to be honest looks a bit of a mess!

Red Cliffs' Lodge is 14 miles away and is completely remote. This means it is a 20 min drive into town and to the National park entrance which some might consider a bind, but for us we felt it was well worth while.

To start. the views are stunning - The Colorado River running past our room, the huge red rock mountains all around us - a different world and immediately better than anything in Moab where views of the mountains are in the distance and over the car park or RV site!

The lodge has been the base for a load of Hollywood movies including John Wayne westerns and there is a small museum on site showing photos of all the stars and with still shots which show the immediate scenery in famous movie scenes. (By coincidence actress Jennifer Connelly was staying there when we were there!). The museum isn't great but it is interesting.

The rooms were better than we had expected. We had a double queen with an additional bed made up on the settee for the 5 of us in our family and the room was large and well equipped with a kitchenette and a patio with furniture looking over a little creek.

The staff were really friendly - homely rather than the formal excellence you would expect in a city hotel. We were particularly impressed with the pricing - ok so the hotel itself cost more than most in Moab, but once there - when they COULD have ripped us off for extras like drinks etc, (captive audience), they didn't! Breakfast was 'all you could eat' buffet at $10 per person! Coffee was free at all times, supper prices in the bar were more than reasonable!

Our kids went horse riding from the onsite Corral and had a great time. (Make sure you book in advance and certainly day before - we almost missed out by not sorting until we arrived). They were on a beginners ride and although they were shown how to ride, in reality the horses were so docile that they just followed the horse in front and no real 'riding' was necessary! (Apparently there are rides for more experienced riders which are more testing). The Wranglers were great at their job, easy to talk with and had loads of interesting stories to tell as they progressed on their 3 hour ride.

Whilst they were riding the rest of the family enjoyed the pool. People clearly don't come here to spend all day laying by the pool, but the facility (including the gym) was more than adequate with chilled water and comfy loungers. Great for a couple of hours of sun and relaxation.

We weren't at the Lodge long enough to do other activities (rafting on the river, onsite winery, etc) but there seemed to plenty going on and everyone seemed to be enjoying it all.

This place isn't the cheapest in town to book but we all agreed it was great value in every respect and if we were heading back to the area we would definitely be back here - and would probably book to stay longer!
