we decided to stay here as the website looked like the ranch offered a lot of activities & experiences we were interested in. Upon arrival at the ranch, we realized that nothing could actually be done at the ranch, there was no bikes there/nothing except the horses which you could do a boring trail ride on for $75.
This was disappointing given it was 30 mins from town & now we had to head back into town to organize ourselves. The concierge people were not that helpful nor knowledgeable. i was quite surprised when we asked them about mountain bike riding in the region & were advised that they had no idea that we would be better off going to town for information. They suggested Moab Adventures, which it turned out was the most expensive along the street - almost triple the cost of some smaller providers. We also asked about touring the national parks - the person at the desk had neever been to any of them!!! I was then beginning to question where we had arrived at. There were no brochures or maps available which you would think would be part of the service provided.
The mountain view room we stayed in was great - had a fantastic view of the mountains. The amenities within the room left a LOT to be desired. Small things like their binder of information missing pages / still having 2007 infromation within it / the shampoo & conditioner of terrible quality (like you'd get in a cheap motel) / no toaster, bottle opener, sharp knife etc. Having a kitchenette is great, but makes it difficult to actually eat anything if you dont have the right or any tools.
The bed was great, the linens were old & needed replacing. - my feet could feel the pilling onf the cotton....They need to replace the pillows also which seemed old as my head was touching the mattress.
These things may seem small - but i think when you pay the amount you do to stay here, you do expect a certain amount of luxury & service. Neither I felt like we received. Now that im looking at the information on the Red Cliffs, i think we shoudl have stayed there for half the price - the scenery is certainly as spectacular & cant imagine the rooms much different to Sorrel river.
The restaurant was fine - expensive - but mostly empty, so I guess they need to make their money somehow.
