“Cool, Clean & Green Pet Friendly Haven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

This was the perfect spot to enjoy a week in Moab with our friends. They stayed upstairs in "Hazel" while we were just 8 steps down via outside stairs in the cool semi-lower level. Our spacious & clean unit included living room & bedroom separated by a small kitchen island, luxurious tiled bathroom & large utility room with washer/dryer. (Note: has a "kitchenette" with small fridge, microwave, hot plate, coffee pot & toaster. For full size kitchen, stay upstairs in "Hazel".) The furnishings were all tasteful & comfortable; everything we needed was included. Our dog felt welcome with her own fluffy bed, bowls, treats & roll of waste bags. The outside area is an oasis of green grass & gardens, hammock, comfy chairs, huge gas grill & hot tub. There's a table & chairs by the grill for private outdoor dining & another on the large deck attached to "Hazel" which was perfect for sharing meals with our friends. The locations could not have been more convenient- just 1/2 block off Main, with an easy walk to groceries, restaurants & shopping. Parking is super, off the street & right out the door. Our hosts were friendly & helpful, yet unobtrusive. Highly recommend all three StellaRuby Cottages!

“Our new favorite place to stay in Moab!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We were fortunate to book the Violet unit at StellaRuby Cottages at the last minute. This turned out to be a great choice for us! Quiet downstairs unit that had plenty of light and was quite spacious. Very comfy bed and living room! Nice soaking tub in the bathroom and having a washer/dryer available was nice.

Property is pet friendly with a nice yard, hot tub and outside grill. It sits off main street, so is quieter than many other motels but still in east walking distance of all of downtown.

The owners are quite friendly and we will stay here again!

“Fantastic place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

We originally booked StellaRuby for 6 nights, then I read that if we book the 7th night, then we get the 8th night for free. Done!

This place is fantastic! The space, room, amenities, were exactly what we were looking for. Being an adventurous couple, we didn't expect to have lunches here. We wanted to have breakfast and dinner. We bought yogurt and granola from a local grocery store, and then used the fridge and cutlery/bowls/plates.

The residence was in the basement with another rental up top. There was plenty of space for our gear, and for the both of us. We loved the colours and the feeling.

TIP: If it's hot an sunny, keep the blinds down during the day. It will keep the suite cool.

There was a BBQ, hammock, and a hot tub in the yard. We expected to use the BBQ more, but with all the great restaurants in Moab, we didn't use it once.

Our pet peeve with the suite, is that the Central Heating/Cooling is controlled by the upstairs. If there was one in the Violet Sky suite, it would be awesome.

Now beds are a finicky thing. We didn't find the bed comfortable, it was too firm for our liking. But I can't deduct points from StellaRuby for that, because they are to individual liking, and it would be very hard to get a bed for everyone (impossible!). So, while the bed was too firm for us, I can't find fault to Stellaruby for that. Just keep in mind, that it is a firm bed.

A feather pillow top may help the bed issue, and if it did, we would, in a heartbeat, stay here again.

“Recommend with reservations!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012 for a stay in November 2012

Loved the detail and thoughtfulness that Stella and Ruby put into VioletSky! Very clean and even tho there is no stove or sink, you have a hot plate, bowls, silverware, wineglasses — what you need to be comfortable. Just wanted to point out a few items for potential renters: You will be in a converted basement and can hear what goes on above (not voices so much but footsteps) If you arrive at night, bring a flashlight so you can see to enter code and inside, light switches are on the wall at the end of the windows to the right and left. Recommend that a light be left on inside for arriving guests. Coffee maker didn't work when we were there but I imagine it will be replaced. Hot tub was in a wonderful location outside with the stars but had a funky smell. Owners responded right away. The backyard offers lots of different venues for enjoying the out of doors. We loved the proximity to town and that we could walk to breakfast, dinner (Jeffrey's Steakhouse was superb!), liquor store, Main St.! We brought our Apple TV, hooked into Netflix and appreciated it! Nice terry robes provided Loved our introduction to Moab and will return and hope to stay upstairs in RedStar. Very much appreciated the ability to bring our dog. Lots of hikes (ask at Visitor's Center: Negro Bill, Corona) outside Arches for us dog people.

Management Response
Nov 25, 2012
Thanks to Joan for giving us specific feedback about her experience at VioletSky. We take suggestions very seriously and implement them as quickly as the booking schedule and budget permit. As to the specific suggestions made in this review:

- Yes, Violet is a basement unit. The entryway is almost entirely windows, allowing for a lot of natural light, and we've put a number of rugs in the upstairs space to lessen the noise.
- The fact no lights were on when these guests arrived was simply our mistake. We usually make sure at least one light is on in case of late arrival. Apologies to Joan.
- The coffee maker is working properly.
- Hot tubs can get funky when wine is accidentally spilled into the water. We emptied and cleaned the hot tub the day after we were made aware of the problem.
- We have installed a stainless steel sink in the utility area for washing dishes, etc.

Cheers, Stella and Ruby

“Super place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

Three of us stayed at VioletSky (one couple and a friend) and had a terrific time. Low key comfort and they'd thought of everything a weary traveller might need (including laundry facilities for us dusty mountain bikers!). A gorgeous setting, lovely garden (with hot tub!) and such nice owners! Definitely the best place to stay in Moab!

“Convient and Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2012 for a stay in May 2012

Violet Sky is one of three rentals within a house and shared grounds. It is separate from the other two which are within the main house, and consists of a studio appartment. All the facilities were of a good standard, and the property was clean and well presented.
The only minor negative comment, was that the dining table and chairs was rather crammed into a corner, and the lighting over the table was inadequate.

Thanks, Vivian, for the feedback and for staying with us. ScarletSun, the back unit you stayed in, is comfortable and cozy. We are adding more lighting over the dinner table and will be looking into a table that perhaps could create more space in the corner of the kitchen.
