“Good bang for the effort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

The hike to Corona arch really pays off. The hike itself is pretty easy, and the scenery is off the charts cool. Bowtie arch is right next to Corona, and provides at least a little shade throughout the day, in addition to the shade from Corona itself.

If you are an adventurous soul, the rappel from Corona is a walk up for experienced climbers, and is even doable fro beginners with an experienced guide (go find someone in Moab and ask about it).

We did not bring our ropes when we went, but we did watch a set of guides set up a series of ropes that had the tourists hooked in for the entire walk up. The guides then lowered the tourists for the 35m/115ft drop. It was quite a photo op.

Fun easy hike, but with all desert hikes - take water! My two daughters, my wife and I took a gallon for our 7am to 11 am trip, and it was 'cool' weather (read: sunny and about 35C/96F).

“Worth the hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

To get to Corona Arch you have to cross a railroad track, hike a couple of steep areas including two with cable railing to hold onto, and a pipe ladder. If you are lucky you might see some people being lowered by rope from the arch. Apparently you can free air rappel from the top of the arch, but you'd better have long ropes and an experienced guide along with you to be on the safe side. It's a beautiful area with views of Bowtie and lots of other cool caves.

“Was stormy to continue hiking”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Went there early August 2012. We couldn't make it to Corona Arch as we were literally caught in the eye of the storm. Made our way back and were happy to be on safe land. We did come back the next day and took a dip in the Colorado River. Was fun a refreshing as it was VERY hot the next day but we were kinda wooses about it as we didn't know how deep it was and what was under there :oS... Fee for camping there is $3 per person.

“Great hike to super arch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Corona Arch is well worth the walk. It is most impressive and was deserted when I visited which can make you feel you are the only person in the World. Not bad when you are only a mile from the road. Take water as advised, it does get hot. If you have any mobility problems there are a couple of awkward bits where you have to use a ladder and a cable.

“Great hike and arch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

This was our first hike in Moab and one of the best ones too.( they are all great hikes in Moab). After a short uphill climb you cross over railroad tracks and then follow the trail that is well marked with piles of rocks. There are some difficult areas like climbing up a short steep area but there is a rope to hold on to and then a 5 step ladder to climb as well. The view is terrific. The arch is huge and we were the only people there. The echo of our voices carried on for miles and miles. There is very little shade so bring plenty of water, good hiking footwear, and a hat. Plan on 2 - 3 hours round trip.
