After reading many reviews was not sure we would find anything suitable in Moab but stopped at the Aarchway Inn and we were pleasantly surprised. The Inn is being renovated, probably for the 2009 season. Room was large, clean with comfortable beds, microwave, refrigerator and free breakfast. Not gourmet food (mostly frozen things to reheat) but plenty of it. Nice indoor jacuzzi. Large pool, not yet open. Great location close to Arches.

Since Moab is a kickoff point for rafting trips and also a seasonal spot I am sure later in the season rooms are beginning to show signs of abuse and staffing is probably by part time college students, which would explain the negative reviews of most motels in Moab. Now that I know how emply Moab is off season, it will be my preference. Parks are empty, weather is great for hiking. Hotel prices are cheap.

I really loved staying at the Aarchway Inn -- it's clean, and it's certainly the closest hotel to Arches National Park. It's also straight down the road from Canyonlands NP -- can't beat the location.

The rooms were clean, attractive, and definitely worth the (very reasonable) price. I'd checked rates at other hotels in the area before a local friend recommended Aarchway Inn to me, and when I got to Moab, I saw that more expensive properties were not as well-maintained or attractive.

Personally, I appreciated the fact that the property is 100% non-smoking; however, if you have smokers traveling with you, you might wish to reconsider (my husband smokes and simply went outside -- no big deal for us, but others might object).

The only down side was the breakfast: Things had been sitting out a little too long, making them pretty unappetizing, and the coffee was a bit watery for my taste. But a little juice and cereal was fine, and the breakfast misadventure was more than forgiven by the otherwise-clean and attractive property conveniently located close to any adventure you'd ever want.

One thing to keep in mind: Their website (http://aarchwayinn.com/) makes it clear that they are the only agent to make reservations directly at the property -- they don't accept reservations made through third party vendors. But it's definitely worth the phone call or email to them at the number/address given in the reservations section of their website http://aarchwayinn.com/reservations/. Personally, I called and had a nice chat with the manager, which was very helpful.

  • Liked — Loved the friendly staff and the clean, comfortable rooms.
  • Disliked — The breakfast -- food wasn't fresh.

We booked through Just America (UK company who plan tailormade holidays across the US). The hotel was fantastic. We had 2 rooms on the ground floor which looked out to the pool area. The rooms were large, clean and tidy. Bathroom was perfect too. The pool area was amazing - loads of loungers and tables with covers to get shade when it got a wee bit too hot! The staff were friendly and there were nice comfy sofas to sit in near reception. There was a computer in the reception area too which overlooked the pool and gave free internet access. The quality of breakfast was good (not amazing compared to some of the other places we stayed in Colorado/Utah area) but there was a decent variety. The main thing that let it down was the plastic cups, plates and knives and forks!! I might sound fussy but we hadn't come across that anywhere else.

Location was perfect for exploring the Arches National Park - it was about a 10 minute drive to the main entrance way. If you wanted to go back into the main area of Moab for a wander or food you're better to take your car as it is a bit of a distance to walk. We ate at the Moab Brewery one night which has a brewery on site. The town didn't have a massive selection of good restaurants so I would say this seemed to be the best! Also recommend Tag-A-Long Expeditions who are based on Main Street, Moab. We did an afternoon drive through Canyonlands which is to the north-west of the town and only this company have access to the area. For the photographers, there are some AMAZING sites, for the adventurers there are some VERY close to the edge driving manoeuvres made and for the film lovers, you get to see where Thelma and Louise "drove" their car off the cliff in the final scene.

  • Liked — The location, cleanliness/size of rooms and great pool area.
  • Disliked — Breakfast was average and the breakfast room was cramped. Oh and plastic knives and forks!!

I loved the location of the Aarchway. It's so close to Arches National Park and right on the Colorado River. The staff was friendly, the rooms clean, and it was the quietest place I've stayed in the 30+ years I've been going to Moab. It has a real Southwest feel without being over done. I loved the time at the playground with my granddaughter--so much space. The views are terrific and the murals were delightful. This is the best motel I've stayed at in Moab.

  • Liked — The comfort and quiet away from Main Street.
  • Disliked — I had no problems or complaints.

We stayed here for one evening in September with our 3 year old and one year old. The hotel was very attractive, the rooms clean and smelled nice. They provided us two clean portable cribs free of charge. The pool and hot tub were nice with spectacular views of the red rocks. They had a very nice garden area with chiminea and seating. The added bonus for us with kids was the playground, which included a very fun pirate ship that my 3 year old loved playing on. We will definitely be back!

  • Liked — The beautiful views, pool and playground
  • Disliked — The breakfast area was a bit cramped
