“Best B & B in Moab area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2014

Found this B & B online before our trip. Didn't realize it is a good 20 minutes from Moab. The directions given by Jason and Jeanette were spot on though. Even though it was dark when we arrived the first evening we didn't have any problems finding the place. We were warmly greeted by Jason and his son and shown to our room. We stayed in the Hovenweep Bungalow - it was fantastic. Very large, extremely comfortable and clean. Very quite. The breakfasts are superb.

The drive here from Moab is spectacular. It follows the Colorado River valley and is simply beautiful! If you drive it at night, find a place to pull off and stop and look at the stars! Wish we could of stayed longer! No doubt we would stay here if in Moab again.

We stayed four nights and while the Inn is a 20 minute drive from Moab it's the best 20 minutes you'll ever spend driving to a place to stay - it's along the Colorado River and you have to keep yourself from stopping too often just to take it in. The Inn itself is great and the views from there are also spectacular. As other have said Jason and Jeanette are great hosts and recommended some wonderful hikes. The breakfast was delicious and filling every day. Our room (Fremont) had a kitchen and plenty of room. If you are going to the Moab area, do yourself a favor and stay at the Castle Valley Inn.

We ended up in Castle Valley Inn quite by accident after being able to find a B&B in Moab itself. Castle Valley is a 20 minute drive north of Moab essentially straight up the Colorado River valley. You won't notice how long it takes because the trip is stunning - even the fifth or sixth time you drive it. Jeanette and Jason are fabulous hosts and they make you feel instantly at home. Breakfasts are filling and fantastic and the rooms are really comfortable - especially after a long day of hiking. The Inn is even more in the middle of nowhere than most of Utah and its surroundings are breathtaking. For an extra-special treat, on the way back to the B&B at night, pull over to the side of the road away from any lights and look up at the sky. Who knew that the Milky Way was really so bright?

Room Tip: Rooms in the cabins or bungalow are the best. All the rooms are nice and quiet.

Jeanette and Jason and those who assist them are extremely friendly and helpful. A fabulous location outside of Moab where you can't help but relax. The breakfasts are delicious, especially the "manly" quiche. A great romantic getaway location.

Room Tip: The rooms in the main house are smaller. If you need more room, you should choose one of the other...

We stayed in the Entrada room during our visit. While the room was small, it was charming. It would have been nice to have a desk or table to work on my laptop though. There was no cell service but the Internet connection was excellent. The bed was comfortable and the bath was adequate. The common living room was quaint and comfortable and the dining area provided a somewhat intimate breakfast for the guests. Breakfast is limited to twelve people (I believe) per sitting and there are three sittings each morning. The grounds were peaceful and provided an excellent atmosphere for relaxation. The Innkeeper's could not have been more pleasant and the breakfasts were great. Rates were a little high, but so was every other place I checked in the area.

Combine a stunning location with amazing service and you have the Castle Valley Inn. The owners are great, the breakfast is delicious. Additionally, they will tell you about local hikes. This place is what old fashioned inn keeping is all about.

We stayed in the Entrada Room for 2 nites on Oct 2-3 and had a mostly very pleasant experience. The hosts were friendly and presented a great breakfast each morning. The Entrada is quite confined, but the bed was comfortable. The doors are good sounding boards for hallway noise, but there was no late night problems. There was no desk or place to use my laptop except in bed which doesn't delight my wife. The common living room worked out OK though. The internet connection was excellent.

This is a remote location, so if you like solitude this is the place. Driving to Moab(~20 miles) on 128 is a super experience along the Colorado. The views are great, but the curves are many. Watch out for bicycles. The roadway is narrow.

All in all, a great place to stay when visiting Arches or Canyonlands.
