“Average Motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2009

We just stayed at the Sleep Inn for 3 nights this April. This is a typical motel, rooms are clean and okay size. We had a two queen bed room. The sink is outside the bathroom and the area is quite small and right next to the bed. The shower stall is a lot bigger than it looked. I had plenty of room showering together with my 4-year-old. The shower pressure is great! The breakfast area is small and the choices are limited, but it’s free, so I’m not complaining. There are two washers and 3 driers, so I didn’t have to wait to do my laundry. There are free wifi in the room.
The motel is on the very south end of Moab. Coming from north, you will pass the entire town from North Main street to Center street, then to South Main street. There are not much left south of Sleep Inn.

We stayed at the sleep inn 2 times during our drive to nevada and back. The 1st time everything was fine, however on our return trip, the front desk person Arlene gave us a discounted rate of $25.00 on our 2nd room. She said this was due to the nature of our trip, ( traveling with ailing mother on her most likely last family vacation as she has untreatable leukemia ), and the fact that they appreciated our returning. She could not figure out the computer, and said I should sign the paper for the amount and they would discount it the next a.m. In the end, the general manager called me a manipulating liar and hung up on me. This while driving to Denver to find a hospital for my mother to get an emergency blood transfusion. He never apologized for his mis-handling of the situation. I would never ever consider staying there again.

I would like to preface this review by saying that we never actually wound up sleeping at the Sleep Inn. The first room we were given was filthy. The bed was sloppily made and it was obvious that the sheets were not changed from the previous occupants. The table had crumbs and coffee stains. I returned to the front desk and told the lady of the situation. She apologized and gave us a room several doors down. The second room was even worse. Not only was did the bed have old unchanged sheets and crumbs on the tables, but the bathroom and room trash cans were full of old trash and there was a large broken sandwich toothpick on the night stand. On top of everything there was a vague sewer smell in the room. At this point we showed the room to the front desk attendant and requested a refund for the night. She apologized again and gave us our refund.
I was able to book a room at the LaQuinta down the street the same night. It was a refreshing change with clean and friendly staff, newly remodeled rooms with granite bathroom countertops. And yes, the rate was comparable to Sleep Inn for that night.

This is a nice cheap little hotel on the Eastern edge of Moab. The hotel is slightly on the outskirts, but Moab is a small little town ( of 1 mile stretch) - and hence communication was not a problem.

The rooms were decent and pretty large. Interiors and batroom were very well maintained. The linen for one of our beds was slightly dirty, but was changed promptly.

The breakfast was much better than expected - it was a traditional continental fare - but much better than what many 3 star hotels have to offer. The only problem was that the eating area was pretty small and tends to get over crowded during the peak hours -- and therefore we decided to drop in early to avoid the rush.

The swimming pool was closed in winter, but the hot tub was good.

Overall, for a $60 damage per night, this was a wonderful experience.

Do not expect any fancy place. In my opinion 'luxury' is when you are able to do whatever you wish and still have VERY comfortable and organized place, VERY lean beds, hot shower, and a basic breakfast waiting for you. When you get what you pay for. As a profesor of orthopedic surgery I spend 1/4 of my life in hotels around the world. Fancyness is like throughing money through tghe window. Simple and very good.

  • Liked — clean and organized
  • Disliked — nothing was bad

The first room we received at the Sleep Inn smelled like a sewer. We contemplated staying in there but the smell was overpowering. The front desk changed us to a different room without giving us a hard time and was actually apologetic. The second room had two queens instead of a king (and was a bit tight) but it didn't smell bad and was warm. Also, it was at the back of the hotel so we didn't have to deal with lobby traffic.

The rooms have flourescent lighting which is just bad in my opinion. Even the lights by the bed are flourescent! The bathroom area is extremely tight but the shower was roomy.

Typical super budget motel with scratchy towels and very light cleaning of room (we stayed 2 nights). Our beds weren't made but I noticed the towels by the sinks were replaced. Also, the closet was way in the corner, furthest from the door. The free breakfast was very, very minimal.

  • Liked — Strong wireless internet, accomodating front desk
  • Disliked — Breakfast, daily cleanliness, bathroom

This motel was fairly standard. The room was cleanish, but not great. The room was also not as well equipped as many of the motels that we stayed at in a 3 week road trip. For example, there was no table or luggage rack, which was kind of surprising for the price. The pool was nice. The included breakfast was okay.
