We stayed in the carriage house which is more like a "house" than a B & B. We had our own refrigerator, stove, etc with a large living room and TV including the premium channels. The house is decorated in "country" style motif which fits the image of Harpers Ferry. Tony made an incredible breakfast each of the two days we were there. He asked us what we wanted and gave us some choices and of course we picked blueberry pancakes which were huge and came with premium strips of bacon and a large bowl of fresh fruit. Exceptional!!!!!
There is a large yard area and a large pond where you can relax and enjoy yourself while you sit in one of his two swings. Very relaxing listening to the water and enjoy yourself while waiting for my laundry to dry.
Our hosts were very gracious and accommodating and upon arriving on our bikes (we biked the GAP and C & O from Pittsburgh to DC) Cheri met us with 4 cans of blackberry and lime flavored waters, bottles of plain water, ice in large glasses and bars to rejuvenate ourselves. We didn't find this anywhere else on the trail except maybe Levi Deal mansion in Meyersdale. Given that we had dirty bike clothes they were gracious enough to allow the use of the washer.
Tony was very knowledgeable (he taught history) and gave us pointers on walking the AT to Jeffersons rock. All in all a VERY nice visit and we would definitely return. The only negative is that the whole town of Harpers Ferry has poor cell phone and internet service, but this was everywhere so we didn't worry about this too much.
