It was a sweltering July day, when my friend and I decided to visit Harper's Ferry. I felt awful for the re-enacters that were in full WOOL costumes. The town is wonderfully preserved with a variety of museums in the old buildings. The Lower Town is the true historic area and the Upper Town is where the shops and restaurants are. It was a great place to spend a morning wandering around as things didn't start to get busy until 11ish. Also above the town, sits the ruins of an old church, the Harper's Ferry cemetery and Jefferson Rock which are well worth the hike up to see. Spend a few hours or spend all day, it is a good time.
