I stayed at The Jackson Rose for one night, and it far exceeded my expectations. My room was clean and comfortable, with nice views, and the bathroom was great - really plush towels. Deb and Phil were great hosts, and Deb is also a wonderful baker; breakfast was incredible. I made tea in the tv room, where they have a nice library of videos and books. I hope to visit again.
We can't praise this place too highly. Philip and Debs, who run it, are very kind and nice people. We were travelling by train and were met by Phil at the station (in a phenomenal thunder storm!). He gave us a lift to Charles Town on another occasion. The breakfasts are special, and another highlight was sitting on the deck with a glass of beer, reading the New York Times. Great place, lovely people.
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at The Jackson Rose in April 2008. We wanted to visit Harper’s Ferry and the surrounding Civil War battlefields, including Antietam. Our stay was wonderful and we are so glad we found this B&B listed in the book _1,000 Places To See Before You Die (USA)_. It turned out to be a perfect, restful home base for us. What a special treat to stay in the same lovely room used by Stonewall Jackson and mentioned in his own writings! Our charming young hosts were warm and very friendly -- yet at the same time, totally unobtrusive and allowed my husband and me plenty of privacy to relax and reconnect. They really know what they’re doing and get those small details right that set a truly great B&B apart from all the others: from greeting these weary travelers with a late snack, to the delicious full breakfasts in front of the fire with soft music, to the super plush towels, and so much more. Having stayed at other historical B&B’s, we were especially pleased with the Jackson Rose’s modern amenities like wi-fi and the impeccable cleanliness. For less than the price of many standard “cookie cutter” highway hotels, you can enjoy this memorable and unique B&B. We highly recommend this one!
My husband and I just did a section hike of the AT and ended at Harpers Ferry and were looking for a last minute place to stay and happened to drive by the Jackson Rose House. It looked beautiful from the outside so we decided to stay and it was the best B&B we have ever stayed in. The inside was as lovely as the outside and the hosts Phil and Deb were extremely freindly, helpful, and made us feel at home. We would absolutely recommend this B&B to anyone and will stay there again when we pick up our hike where we left off.
