“Nice hotel-crappy manager!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

I stayed here at this hotel for 2 nights, the hotel itself is nice but is not worth the $125 price! It's more like an $80 a night hotel. The desk clerk, Brandon was very nice and told me all about the on-site restaurant and pub and the breakfast in the mornings, I think that for the price of these rooms per night, it should include complimentary breakfast, not one that you have to take in a coupon from the front desk when you checked in or you have to pay $6!! That is ridiculous, especially when the choices were not very good! And don't get me started about the so-called front desk manager, Barbara! She is very rude and treats people like they're not human!! She has no business working in the customer service industry from the way she talks to people!!! Very rude!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building are much better than the ones in the other buildings.

We booked two nights a month in advance for a week get-away. Traveling with our two Westies put us in the "dog" building. Non smoking room reeked of smoke, bathroom was closet sized, tub drain was clogged, everything was "tired" and worn. Restaurant was smokey and noisy (we went elsewhere), building entry door had panic hardware AND a red push button. You had to push both at the same time to get out. Try doing that with a fire at your back and a child in your arms.

Unlike many other chains, we were charged $50 a night for the dogs (who are crated, clean and quiet). Total cost came to $345 for two nights! When I challenged the cost and quoted AAA at $80 to 100, the desk clerk said he didn't know anything about AAA. We've stayed in much better properties at $65 a night. Fair cost in this case would have been about $40 a night! Really! If you are going to Harper's Ferry, try a B&B or old hotel in town. More fun and more interesting.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else! Maybe rooms in the main hotel are better, but I wouldn't know.

ok I have stayed twice...the first time...I let it go, but the second time it was even worse.... The hotel itself is okay,,,,,but very behind for the prices..(need to upgrade) the front desk staff was very nice and pleasant EXCEPT for, if you can believe it or not.,the front desk manager..Barbara!!! both times she was extremely rude to myself,my in-laws and my children.!!! As far as Brandon goes, he was very helpful and sweet! Barbara acts like a warden instead of someone working in the hospitality industry....please don't waste your time or money...it is not worth it!!!!! I think Quality Inn needs to rethink who they put in charge over there!!!

Room Tip: stay anywhere but here....there are nicer places in Harpers Ferry for cheaper rates and very pleasan...

This is a large hotel! Every staff member I met was wonderful and helpful. The hotel is clean and well taken care of. The bed is comfortable, but not pillowtop. I slept well. My room had a huge window looking out on the woods behind the hotel. Really nice! The breakfast was great. I was there for 3 nights and it was good to see a bit of variety in the breakfast offering from day to day. All that good stuff said, the hotel is starting to show its age in the furnishings and the TVs are old picture tube models. Would I stay there again? Yes. This is a well run hotel with great staff! The hotel is very close to the Harpers Ferry National Park.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor of the building are partially underground (the hotel is on a hill.). Cell...

My partner and i enjoyed this clean and well-run hotel for three days (Labor Day weekend). The soaring vaulted ceiling in the lobby and other interior design features are among the nice touches and there's coin operated laundry. We didn't try the indoor swimming pool because we chose this hotel for the water sports next door at River Riders. Our room with king size bed was very spacious and well equipped with a table, chairs, a microwave oven and a mid size fridge, but we thought the coffeemaker was of extremely cheap quality and hard to use without risk of burning yourself. The hotel restaurant has mostly quality crab, shrimp and fish dishes at affordable prices and the waitresses who served us were attentive and helpful. The complimentary hot breakfast is adequate but is outmoded for a modern urban palate.

Room Tip: We stayed at the lower level, where the windows that face the well kept green space behind the hotel...

I originally booked a nonsmoking 2 queen bed room in the main building but when we entered the room it smelled like cigarette smoke. I immediately called the front desk & Rita was wonderful! She offered me the only other non- smoking room available but it was in building 3 on the 2nd floor where there were no elevators. So we pushed the luggage cart through the parking lot with 2 young kids & my husband had to carry all the bags up the stairs. Rita then called to see if this room was better and it was. Very clean, AC worked well & there was a nice size fridge & microwave. The breakfast was great- waffles, eggs, sausage, yogurt, bagels, fruit, etc- many choices! We did not use/ see the pool because I didn't want to walk back & forth through the parking lot to swim. I would stay again, just would book with advance notice for main building non- smoking room.
