“Fantastic stay for Gay Couple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

I wanted to treat my boyfriend to one of my favorite places -- Bayfield. Admittedly, I was a little nervous how the small-town/northern-WI mentality would handle a gay couple. A couple can be less obvious in a restaurant, but checking into a B&B with one bed...well, it's fairly apparent that we're a gay couple.

However, I shouldn't have been nervous. Not once did we receive a sideways glance, a raised eyebrow, or a judgmental tone. Instead, we were warmly welcomed, shown to the best room in the place (XII -- seriously, it's amazing), and invited into the house in all ways.

I'm sure -- whomever you are -- you'll be treated the same: with a warm smile and a generous spirit. We'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: Room XII is a must see. It's worth the price.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Rittenhouse Inn, Bayfield, WI. We were there for the Apple festival. It was the perfect place to be- on Saturday evening, the Bagpipers from Canada came right into the Rittenhouse and performed several selections! (the highlight of our Apple fest) Our room was wonderful! The staff, as always was friendly and helpful. And the food- yes, the food... Something new on the menu- I think it was called the southwest platter? (breakfast) My husband does not normally comment that much on food, no matter where we eat. He said it was the best breakfast he has even eaten. I would agree! Delicious just doesn't even come close!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful; each one has it's own personality. However, the Morrocan Suite i...

It's a beautiful old house, we loved it there, our room, No1, overlooked Madeline Island and while not modern as such, it was very nicely decorated in the old world charm way. We had dinner there as well, it was delicious and well priced. Breakfast was also good, we were very happy with the service we received.

Room Tip: I love staying in B & B's ,it's better value for money and the staff are always helpful.

We spent two nights in this lovely Inn last month. This is a beautiful old Victorian Inn and the staff was warm and welcoming. We stayed in Room 6 which I found to be spacious and comfortable. The only thing, if you like a lot of natural light, select a different room because this one only has one window. Since we didn't plan on spending much time in the room, it wasn't a problem for us. We did miss not having a television, but, we survived. The breakfast that was inclusive with the rate was wonderful and filling.

My husband and I for a honeymoon weekend decided to drive to the Bayfield WI applefest. We were delighted to get the last room available for one night at Old RIttenhouse Inn. Ultra quiet, no TV's and old world charm. This Inn is all about rest and relaxation and our bed was super comfortable. Decor is warm and welcoming. The complimentary breakfast of layered yogurt with fruit and granola, basket of home made biscuits and jam, muffin loaded with fruit in the middle and the best coffee ever was beautifully presented on white linen tables. The waiter was more like an instant friend than employee of a business. Wish I could remember his name. Amazing service. My husband ordered french toast as well as sausage. Generous portions. I could go on but if you in the area or staying in or near Bayfield don't miss a meal there at the least. Dinner is a 5 course and although we did make the evening meal I won't miss it next time. You won't be disappointed in Old Rittenhouse Inn, and I hope if you stay you will feel as special as I did. highly recommend!

Room Tip: Stayed in room "1".

This was my first visit to Bayfield. I am a huge fan of B&Bs. This one ranks among the top. We booked a nice room in the 2nd house, but the innkeeper upgraded us to the Moroccan Suite. It was absolutely beautiful. Cozy. Comfortable. Great fireplace. The view from the porch of the 2nd house cannot be beat, but this room was amazing. We got a chance to talk with the Innkeeper. He was treat to talk with. The whole experience was just lovely. We will definitely go back.
