Things that may be helpful: 1) The restaurant is about 1.5 miles off the highway and is very easy to find; 2) It has a lot of local feel, customers, and charm; 3) price expectations -- lunch for two with sides and drinks was $14.80 plus a $3.20 tip.
Gourmet dining? No. Non-chain, unique style, solid food, with lots of Tennessee charm? Yes.
My wife and I seek out non-chain, local, eateries, and this is what led us to Baileyton Restaurant. We were tired of the interstate, and wanted something close by with easy on/off.
One of us had their "specialty" 10-ounce burger, the other a ham and cheese hot sandwich, we shared onion rings, and got two drinks. The food was really quite good and hit the spot. Some local history is on the walls, and the people who work there are friendly and have a wonderful eastern Tennessee accent. Restrooms were clean. Parking is ample. Grassy areas were nice for a bit of a walk before hitting the road again.
Service was attentive and cheery. Price very affordable.
