“7 Stays in 7 Years”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

The best way I can sum up our experience at the Resort is the fact that in the last 7 years my wife and I have had annual stays of about 4 weeks each. Some of the reasons we keep returning are the very large, comfortable and quiet rooms in the Reefside section which overlook the Philippine Sea, the outstanding breakfast and luncheon buffets, the friendly and helpful staff, the wide range of facilities offered and what we consider to be very favorable rates. It is located in a beautiful area in the northern part of Saipan and has the largest grounds of any hotel on the island - 144 hectares. The facilities for golfers include the hotel's 18 hole golf course, a nine hole short course and a driving range. Several pools are provided including a large children's pool next to the main, salt water pool and in the Mandi Asian Spa which does a fine job of pampering guests. Our rooms always have had a large bathroom with separate bathtub and glassed-in shower and the toilet in an adjacent room. We have enjoyed the many amenities that are provided and kept well-stocked. There are two double beds, a sitting area with table and cushioned chairs, a lounge chair, a small refrigerator, a balcony with chairs of its own and a good-sized TV with a variety of channels. We enjoy sitting of the balcony for sunsets over the Sea and enjoying the night-time sky. NOTE: To enjoy the quiet - the only sound is the surf - turn off the room's air conditioning unit before settling on the balcony. The room will remain cool since the AC functions quite well at all times. Also, while
you are a few miles from the main town on Garapan, it is easy to get there using the regular shuttle bus which operates into the l0 p.m. hour. Two last items: The food is first rate, plentiful and the buffets feature different offerings each day. For instance, at lunch there are two different kinds of sushi rolls, an area with hot foods such as tempura, fish, meat and vegetable offerings, and - one of our favorites - a dessert table. And, regarding the facilities, we have seen - over the past two years - an increase in updating and providing new facilities. For instance, in the dining areas new, comfortable chairs were installed and a new performance stage for the three-times-a-week shows (which include dances from various Pacific islands) was created. While there is more that we can say about the Mariana Resort and Spa, we can update this next year when we return for our eighth stay in 8 years.

Great place for groups due to its huge ground and several buildings. Family rooms available at very affordable rates. Buffet lunch great with very affordable price, cheaper than Hyatt and Nikko hotels. Rooms clean. Privacy respected. I highly recommend for family and group reservations. Even electric cars with drivers are provided up to our room for those who don't like to walk anymore after a tiring day.

I checked in for a 10 night stay on business. I chose the hotel for the room size and the all-ocean view rooms. The room was huge but they only had twin beds, no king, in any of the standard rooms. Old style tube TV with few channels. The big problem was the toilet area. There was a overwhelming smell of urine and there were spider webs above the toilet. After three days I decided to move to another hotel. I was very surprised by a two day early departure charge. When I checked the original reservation it did say that there MAY be a charge for early departure. OK, so they could charge it but it cost them a lot more in the long run. I will recommend that my company choose another hotel for future business visits to Saipan. If there is any chance you might want to check out early, avoid this hotel. The Fiesta. Resort and Spa is about the same price and offers a lot more amenities.

This hotel is only staying in business because of the Asian tourism. I stayed here in the hopes of having a relaxing hotel in the middle of the jungle. Instead it was run down, very little staff, but they were very polite and helpful.

Some, on the other hand, seemed to be in their own world. It has a large spa, but no beach and a seemingly good golf course. I left the hotel after two days to find a hotel closer to the beach.

We stayed there with 5 members of family. We had 2 rooms adjusted. Room was very clean and
large and we were satisfied with the equipments. My husband and three sons enjoyed playing
golf, while I was satisfied with the asian spa and massage. We colud play tennis free and could
enjoy snorkeling, too. The sunset from the pool side was wonderful. I think I will choose this
hotel again next time.

This could be a pleasant hotel in a quiet spot of the Island, with a nice spa and good golf course. Unfortunately its a run down hotel with no investment, no staff and no beach, with a nice spa. Don't know about the golf course as I don't play golf.

Saipan is obviously lacking any investment, but there are still some nice hotels including the fiesta and hyatt. But it is with great regret that the state of the island is reflected in the Mariana Hotel. The rooms are big and spacious and they all over look the sea, but they are also tired and need decorating.

Just from appearance the hotel looks like it has not been painted for at least 5 years, the trees are not maintained and the doors and walls are covered in dirt and cracked plaster. The pool area is a joke with 2 parasoles (one of which was broken) and a scattering of chairs.

The dive shop is disgusting and I would not touch the equipment (I am an experienced PADI divemaster), there was a large patch of oil in front of the shop also part of the path to the sea, which had not been cleaned for days and I pointed out several times to the staff with zero interest or action on their part.

The seafront is a small stretch of sand with rocky front to the sea, supposedly good for snorkeling but not for swimming. Incredibly they charge $10 for the use of the beach chairs even if staying at the hotel!! In fact they charge for everything, $2 to use the old table tennis set, $7 for wifi, etc. The drinks are more expensive than at the Hyatt or Fiesta but that's only when you can get a drink as the bar is only manned intermittently.

I could say more but just look at the pictures. It's sad as it would not take much to spruce this hotel up but either its not making any money or the owner has taken all the money out of it. The few staff that are there are very friendly but just not interested in the state of the place, other than the spa. I asked to speak to the manager, but she never seemed to be on hand particularly at check out time.

The restaurant has a buffet for both breakfast and lunch. When food runs out, it seems the staff waits a long time before replacing it. This happens so often that it appears it may be a policy of the restaurant manager.

The quality of the food is generally not as good as the other hotel buffets on the island and yet, they make no effort to improve it and seem content to just serve as little food as possible since most of the hotel guests have prepaid food coupons. As for the local customers, some of the staff often display a poor attitude.
