“FABULOUS!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2010

My husband and I stayed here in a Junior Suite for our 5 year wedding anniversary and can't say enough great things about this hotel! We got to San Fran early and they kept our bags for us while we toured around. We were SHOCKED at the gorgeous lobby!! When we did check at 3:00 p.m. we were again SHOCKED at the beautifully decorated rooms and to our surprise we were met with a bottle of champagne and truffles!! The room was bigger than we thought it was and noone really says this on the reviews or the website, but the suite has these great window seats that we lounged in overlooking the streets/view of San Fran. The bed is super comfortable and the hotel is located amongst EVERYTHING! We walked or took $5-$8 cabs everywhere. The Grand Cafe next door is also one of the best brunches we have ever had. My husband is a chef and is very picky - but he loved the food! Great Great Great place to stay and we will be back!

My husband and I spent two nights at Hotel Monaco and could not have been happier. We got an excellent deal through Travelzoo ($109 per night). The room was extremely clean, and attractively decorated. When we arrived in our room there was a chilled bottle of champagne and chocolate truffles with a nice note congratulating us on our 20th wedding anniversary. Very nice touch!

Each night there is a complimentary wine reception from 5-6pm in the hotel's comfortable living room, which has a fireplace and large windows that are perfect for watching passerby's on the sidewalk outside. The hotel has a fun bar/bistro and a lovely dining room. We had a fantastic meal with terrific service.

The hotel is located just two blocks from Union Square and there are many restaurants and tons of shopping nearby.

We were very impressed with the staff at this hotel. They truly went out of their way to make you feel welcome and that they appreciated your business.

The lobby area, and two sitting rooms are beautiful with unique furnishings and handpainted murals on the walls. Very elegant, but not stuffy at all.

Loved our stay at the Monaco!

We arrived at the Monaco after staying in a hotel on the Las Vegas strip so it was a very welcome change. From the moment we arrvied, nothing was too much trouble and by the end of our four night stay, we were being addressed by name by the waiters, bell boys and concierge. Room was fabulous, two queen beds and plenty of space. Location was superb, you couldn't find anywhere better and wine hour was lovely. Would definitley go back to the Monaco and would also look at other Kimpton hotels if they are all to this standard

The Hotel Monaco is truly outstanding. My daughter and I stayed there for 7 days and 6 night, each one a pure pleasure. We stayed on the Geary Street side on the 7th floor. Pleasant city view, easy access to everything and everywhere. The staff, from the doorman to the housekeepers, are friendly, professional and accomodating. The room was perfectly fine with regard to size. Cleanliness...the place is immaculate!!!!!!!! The beds are like clouds. I asked for extra pillows, 6 to be exact, no problem! Extra towels...lots of them...no problem!!!!!!

The flow is seamless from arrival to checkout and they always call a guest by name which is important.

The Grand Cafe is amazing. The food is superb. In a town of outstanding restaurants, this one is a must to visit. We ate breakfast there, 5 out of 6 days and dinner, 4 out of 6. Everything was perfect! Fresh. tasty and the service attentive without being intrusive.

My adult daughter, who loves San Francisco and is very critical of hotels, said, and I quote, "Mom, the Monaco is our hotel whenever we come here'". I could not agree more.

And being an "In Touch " member, the internet was effortless!

We are heading back in June for theater and its not even a guess where we will be staying....Monaco....here we come!!!

Oh and Oliver, the hotel mascot, is a beautiful, sweet Golden Retriever and just adorable!

This was my second stay at the Hotel Monaco because I loved staying there so much the first time. It is hard staying here with someone with whom you do not want to share a bed if you want a superior room, i.e. two beds in a killer room. Let me point out: the amenities are wonderful, the staff is excellent, the adjoining restaurant is delicious, the location is good, and the price is right. However, i have stayed in a Suite, which had one bed, and sofa pull out. Great room for mom and a tween-ager. This past stay, my teenage son and I had a two bedroom accomodation, which was the best option. DON"T upgrade to a junior suite because it's not worth it. Smaller bath counterspace and one king bed and a sofa that seems like the same space as a double queen room. Just a tip. Other than that, it was a warm, comfortable space.

This was a last minute booking - but well worth it.

The best service (with some unique touches). The room was small by American hotel standards but great decor and cleanliness.

When you check in ask to meet Oliver (the resident Retriever)

This hotel was wonderful. I went with a friend to celebrate my birthday/spring break and we couldn't have asked for better service. They upgraded our room to a suite for my birthday which was a great surprise. My friend and I travel often together, but we were amazed with how friendly the staff was and the convenience of the location . The hotel is walking distance from Union Square and China Town. It is a "pet friendly" hotel, however the hotel had several pets that "worked" in the hotel. I thought the idea was a nice touch because it made me feel right at home, however my friend didn't care for that. Overall San Francisco was a beautiful city and the Hotel Monaco is definitely on our list of places to stay again.
