“Stellar staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2014 via mobile

My main reason for staying at the Edwardian was the terrific value! The hotel is very "boutique" meaning small but for a single traveler, it was no problem at all.

The staff (I loved Ellen) are very accommodating, friendly, and personable. The location and proximity to public transit and taxis is very convenient! The hotel is about a 5 minute streetcar ride to the Castro and about 10-15 minutes from the shopping in Union Square.

I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend the Edwardian to any traveler who is looking for a decent value and convenient location.

The staff couldn't be more helpful, honestly, lovely people. The rooms are basic, it's quite dated but efforts have been made to add modern touches. Bed was comfortable.

Absolutely no storage in the room I was in and my television wasn't working the first night which I didn't pick up until about 10pm which by then was too late and as it was the weekend, too late to call anyone out. Turned out to be dodgy power wiring.

There's a convenience store across the road you can get drinks and snacks and some a nice bakery nearby but the restaurant downstairs (not affiliated with the hotel) was superb. (Zuni's). Cable Car stop is right outside but there is s no-standing zone outside the hotel which makes it a bit hairy getting taxis/unloading your luggage from one..

Overall a good budget option, if you are willing compromise on luxury and convenience amenities wise.

We were staying at the Edwardian for three nights. The main reason for choosing the hotel was the low Price (compared to other Hotels in SF), the good Location on the market street with cosy Restaurants just around the corner and tram stops in front of the hotel. The staff at reception was very helpful.

This hotel is on a good location, staff are so helpful and bathroom is above average - but the rooms have absolutely no storage. Just a bed and a chair. This may sound a small issue but it isn't. There is nowhere to put anything. There are plenty of nooks to put some basic shelving and a unit of some kind. So far we've had two accidents tripping over things that we've had to store on the floor. A real shame but absolutely won't be staying here again unless some basic requirements are addressed.

Not a safe area at night. Noisy. Wifi very erratic. Our Amtrak train was very late. Informed them we would be late. Told there was a number to ring for late check-in. Arrived at 3.00 am. Number went to voice mail. Stuck in a strange city, in a not very nice area at 3.00 am with no where to go. A friendly taxi driver passing by took pity on us and took us to a few hotels trying to find a room for us. Went back to the Edwardian in the morning. No apology for leaving us stranded but acknowledged it must have been uncomfortable for us because it is not such a good area at night. Room had no fridge, hairdryer, air con, coffee making facilities. No lights working in the bathroom. Very small room.

We stayed one night at this hotel. The location is good and the staff is friendly. But the hotel is very basic, with a remodeld lobby though and freshly painted rooms. But his but it´s totally overpriced. The rooms are tiny, maybe 14 m2, and you don´t even have room to open your suitcase in the room, not even space to fit a chair in the room.

Cosy, old hotel with charm. Staff members are friendly. If you are looking for a place to sleep - then this small hotel is perfect. Clean room and bathroom. Public transport close by. Good value for money. San Francisco however, did disappoint.
