“Amazing Service, Kids Suite was incredible!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2010

We arrived at the Hotel Union Square, booked into a petite queen room. The clerk noticed our 22 month old daughter and offered to upgrade us to the kids suite. We were so grateful and the room was AMAZING. I would absolutely recommend the Hotel Union Square and especially the kids suite to families traveling with children. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed the variety of books and toys and there were clearly toys (including a computer and Nintendo Wii) that would appeal to older children and teens as well.

The room was impeccably clean and extremely stylish. I loved everything about the room and the service we received during our stay was outstanding. My family will be back for sure!

I stayed here for a week with my boyfriend. It's a nice hotel, rooms a little smaller and older than the photo's but we got a great deal on travelocity. It's in a really good location, close to public transport and really easy to get to and from the airport using BART. Go for cocktaisl in The Westin St. Francis on Union Square they are great and if you get a chance to see a gig at Greek Theatre in Berkerly do it do it do it. We saw Ray La Montange and David Gray and it was one of the best concerts i've ever been to.

I went to a conference and stayed tree night at the Hotel Union Square. It's a boutique hotel right next to the Union Square! The hotel is at a great location. You have all the shops and the public transport you need close to the hotel. The rooms seemed to be re-done recently and were nicely decorated. The hotel doesn't offer any breakfast or dinner, but you can have free coffee in the morning and/or free wine in the early evening. The windows are poorly insulated, so it can get really cold during the night. I had to ask for an extra heater in my room. Overall, I really liked to hotel and I would definitely go back there.

Great location, it's in the center of the shopping district. Great decors too... The staff are all friendly especially Jewel, he helped us with our luggages, recommended good restaurants and even offered cold water even before we ask.

The vintage feel with modern decor makes this hotel unique, just don't stay in room 606 because of the sloping floors, good thing the front desk was kind enough to transfer us to another room the very first thing in the morning. They even gave me 2 rooms to choose from.

Check out was a easy too.. We checked out at 12nn left our luggages at the concierge, had lunch and went back at the hotel lobby at 3PM our flight back home is at 8PM so they let me stayed in the lobby with my 1 year old son while waiting for our cab ride to the airport at 5PM. My son slept in the couch and it didn't bother them.

Overall, we are very satisfied with our stay

We spent a few nights at this hotel and my only criticiscm is the rooms are a bit smelly. We originally were given a room with a window and fire escape, which smelled like mould, and then we asked to switch rooms and they upgraded us to an Excutive suit which was very spacious and funky but had no windows and guess what. It smelt! It was super comfortable and convenient, right in the centre of town, easy to find and easy for public transport, but for the price I think they should sort out the smell problem. It is a massive hotel with lots of rooms so maybe I was just really unlucky. Also for the price, no breakfast was offered which I thought was cheeky. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the staff we helpful,

I went to San Francisco with a friend to see the city and attend a concert. Seeing as it was my first visit to San Francisco, I read through a lot of reviews to try to find the perfect hotel. Things I was looking for: great location, modern amenities, comfortable bed and amenities, free wireless internet. Hotel Union Square had all of these things, and MORE. The hotel was very easy to get to from the airport, and as soon as you step off the Powell BART station, you're greeted with a huge mall, the cable car turnaround, and lots and lots of people, locals and tourists alike. Already this seemed like the perfect location, and it's handy to have a Walgreens right across the street. Although we weren't able to get early check-out, the extremely friendly staff held our luggage at the concierge desk so we were able to grab lunch and shop freely. The hotel is in an older building with lots of character, and we had a GREAT room (the deluxe double double). It faced Ellis street, so it was very quiet, and the A/C was a joy during the 34 Celsius heat spike. There was a huge walk-in closet, super comfortable beds with padded headboard and a great-looking dresser to store things in. The bathroom was small but really cute, with a pedestal sink and rain showerhead. The hotel also offers very reasonably-priced room service. The best part was their complimentary wine service everyday at 5-6, and we met other travelers, which really added to our experience. Overall, you couldn't ask for a better location or more helpful, friendly staff. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Spent 4 nights here in a room overlooking Powell Street. The cable car noise wasn't an issue for us as they stop at around 11ish, so we had no problems getting a good night sleep. The room was simple, but everything was new, and it looked great! The bathroom has also been re-done and it was lovely. We had free Wi-Fi and every afternoon, there was wine tasting and nibbles in the foyer.
The hotel is in a great location - transport was never an issue.
The noodle shop next door is cheap and delicious!
We would definately love to come back to San Fran - and we would definately stay here again!
