“The best kept secret in San Francisco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

If you are looking for a hotel that is sumptuous, luxurious and 5 star, then don’t look here!! There are no elevators / escalators fyi.
If you want the friendliest staff we have ever encountered, a nice clean well appointed room, a very, very comfortable bed and an excellent shower, this is the one for you.

Did I mention location, location, location? No?? Its in a fantastic location. Its right next to the Presidio at Lyon Street at Lombard Street.
It has free parking with several additional dedicated spaces around the corner (1 min walk tops). The car park is small and has a handicap space for appropriately badged vehicles / users. Only once did we park on the street because we did not know about the additional spaces, all you have to do is ask staff.
It has free wifi and a very modest breakfast selection.
We loved this place having stayed downtown on two previous visits, but never again.
We saw parking charges at 41$ and 31$ a day!!! That’s not a typo!!!!
There are several eateries next door / nearby. Chestnut Street has fabulous shops and markets, iHop is on Lombard. There are several bus terminus nearby if you cant be bothered driving into San Fran. The street parking in San Fran is diabolical at best. We found this the most frustrating thing during the 6 days. Raymond at Travelodge knows how to navigate around on public transport and is very willing to assist you. Thanks Raymond!! We used public transport to get to the 49rs game v Detroit Lions! GO NINERS!! Super Bowl here we come!!!!
It was quiet in the evening and at night. My only criticism is the modest breakfast and this is not shared by Running Water who reckons basic was enough to kick start the day. Perhaps she is right – again lol.
We highly recommend this hotel / motel ,we have paid a lot more and been much less satisfied. We booked it as a result of recommendations on Tripadvisor.

Stayed here for 2 nights in July. Thankfully this hotel lives up to it’s reviews. We’ve been to San Francisco before and stayed close to China Town, a more central location. Although not quite as central this location was excellent for us. It was a good bit quieter, within walking distance to the buses and shops and right next to The Presidio. Even the Golden Gate Bridge is within walking distance. There is a restaurant just around the corner, a wee shop/deli and pizzeria virtually next door. The rooms are cosy, clean and modern. This hotel offers an excellent rate, friendly, helpful staff, free breakfast, wi-fi and free parking.
Just two wee points: there is no lift and breakfast is very simple but, thanks to Trip Advisor, we knew that before we arrived so no surprises there.
This hotel is excellent value for money and we would stay here again.

We had a 3 night stay here in October 2012 at the end of a North California tour.
We arrived before the check in time, but still managed to be given a room.
The room is a fair size, clean and the bed comfortable. A small complimentary breakfast is available, but we didn't have this so can't make any comment on it.
The staff are really friendly and helpful and have an amazing local knowledge. We were given a map with local bus routes and stops marked on it.
The location of the hotel is ideal for the Presidio and Golden Gate bridge, and the other tourist areas are easily reached on the local buses, with the stop only 1 or 2 blocks away.
Chestnut Street, 1 block away, is full of eating places for breakfast and dinners.
We checked out and left our cases in the office for the day, on return Nikki called a cab for us to take us to the BART so we could get back to SFO airport.
This may only be a motel, but the service is 5*
San Francisco is generally expensive for hotels, but this Travelodge offers excellent value and we would highly recommend it if you are travelling on a budget or just don't wan't to pay $$$ for a room.

We have stayed at this TL so many times we've lost count... Raymond, Bruce and little Nikki are almost friends... the service is impeccable and Tyler S still keeps it all managed.
The rooms are re-furbed, the heater works for those cold foggy nights...

As an example, we saw Raymond went out of his way to explain all the tour options to an overseas family who spoke little English, Nikki spent extra time making sure our car was secure and Bruce helped us with a special request without missing a beat.
If you want xlnt service and proximity to the Marina and Presidio... they are the best.

Room Tip: Stay on the 3rd level for the views....
