“Quant Boutique Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW via mobile

We spent 3 nights at The Warwick to kick off a 2-week vacation in California. The bedrooms have recently been remodeled and are very charming, if a little small, however that is to be expected given the location. The bathrooms are tiny (again, no surprise in such a centrally located boutique hotel in a historic building) but nonetheless functional, elegant and clean. The staff at the reception was exceptionally friendly (in particular the gentleman who checked us in, Jesse). My only complaint would be the somewhat funny smell in our room which we could not get rid off, no matter what we tried. I suspect it comes off the paint on the wooden headboard and the wooden cabinet but I'm not entirely sure. As for location, the hotel is located very centrally and conveniently next to Union Square and while it is true that there is a fair share of homeless people and crazies we never felt unsafe walking home at night. The area is hustling and bustling 24/7 so there will always be some noise - if you're a light sleeper, ask for a room facing the back of the hotel and keep your window closed at night.

I had a lovely stay at this hotel, and would stay here again. The rooms are quaint and very charmingly decorated, albeit business sized. The staff was also very friendly. Only downside is the neighborhood blighted with beggars and other more nefarious types, which is no fault of the hotel.

Dear jetsetter5195,

Thank you for the very positive review. It is always great to hear from Japan and a Tripadvisor Senior Contributor. I was happy to see that you found our rooms to be comfortable and the staff very friendly. I did want to comment regarding the neighborhood; we believe the Union Square area is generally a safe and attractive section in San Francisco. We hope that you found San Francisco to be a vibrant, fun and enjoyable experience. Thank you, again, for your comments and for staying with us. We look forward to another opportunity to welcome you back.

Friendly front desk staff, beautiful rooms and exceptional location. We were given the choice of a room facing an alley way or the street and we chose the street - virtually no noise even though Santa Con was in town. This hotel is the perfect choice for anyone going to a show at Curran Theatre or wanting to shop in Union Square. Only strange thing about room was that mirror/sink area was right when you walked in, which could be inconvenient for some who are noisy getting ready while someone else tries to get rest.

I guess boutique hotel is sometimes a nice way of saying small and sometimes a nice way of saying out dated. This hotel was in a good location but kind of tired. The room looked nothing like the photos on the website. It was tiny. Pleasant staff and they did exceptionally well during the storm/power outage last week. But next time I will look for a better deal or pay a little more and try to get some luxury, even a little luxury is better than none.

Dear Siam-Orchids,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. I was disappointed to learn that you did not find the hotel to be a good value. We have recently undergone a major renovation and re-launched a new restaurant and bar, along with completely refinishing all guest rooms and suites. With regards to the size of the rooms; the building is over 100 years old and some of the rooms are a little smaller. We do offer larger rooms and suites if you prefer more space during your stay. I was, however, happy to see that the staff was able to make such a positive impression, especially during the power outage. It was challenging to say the least, but we made every effort to make the best of the situation. Thank you, again, for your comments and for your patronage. If I can be of any assistance in the future please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

We stayed two nights, had a great time the room was nicely decorated. The bathroom at but small but nice and recently renovated. The hotel bar "The European" is very modern and has great ambiance, all the bartenders were very friendly. I highly recommend the signature cocktail is really good.
Across the street is a Walgreens if you need to buy something last minute.
The restaurant is elegant and has a modern cuisine by a chef that was in top chef show. Ryan is excellent waiter, he also speaks great Spanish if you need :)
We took a cab from the airport and was 55dlls, but on our return took Uber and it was only 30dlls!
The only downside of the hotel is that it does not have room service.
We will like to come back soon.

Dear monpetitcadeaux,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your stay with us. I was happy to see that you enjoyed your visit and was able to experience both Aveline and The European. We are working on Room Service, but have had a few delays. In the interim, we have the ability to provide Room Service though a local restaurant via the Front Desk. If I can be of any assistance in the future please do not hesitate to contact me. We look forward to another opportunity to welcome you back to San Francisco and The Warwick San Francisco. Thank you, again, for the positive review and for your patronage.

Very nice boutique hotel in downtown SF. The rooms had historic charm but were well maintained and clean but kept the historic feel. The restaurant was absolutely incredible. The food was amazing and the wine selections were superior.
Rent the yellow "GoCars" just a few blocks from the hotel. Great way to see SF.

Everything was really nice at this hotel! We had a great time. I got a really good deal using the hotel tonight app with the promo code "hotel_tonight". The hotel tonight app had the price about $75 less then I found anywhere else and with the hotel_tonight promo code I got an additional $25 off. ($100 off is pretty great!)
