“Bright cozy rooms near Union Square”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2012

This hotel has bright cozy rooms and only two blocks from Union Square. If you wander a block more you are in the Tenderloin. So caution advised. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The lobby is compact though adequate and comfortable for this small hotel. The room layout was nice. The sink is outside the bathroom and shower so it makes for efficient use of time for visitors. The chairs and bed are comfortable.

I stayed at this hotel, maybe 7-8 times over the last 10 years.
The first time was so great. I loved my room. I came back again. But my next visit the room was not nearly as nice. I have found such inconsistency with the rooms. The spaces are always quite small.
One visit my husband had his truck parked. It cost us $50 for the night and they scractched it.
Through the years it has seemed less personable. The restaurant has struggled, even after hiring some fabulous chefs.
I haven't been there in a year. It may be fabulous again. I don't know.
Across the street (Taylor) a blues club opened. It is within walking distance of many wonderful galleries and of course Union Square. Directly across is a Walgreens that attracts a lot of homeless.

Great boutique hotel a couple of blocks off Union Square, less than comparable hotels nearby but beautiful antique furnishings, comfy beds, upscale linens and convenience make this a great value. Will be back for sure.

Stayed mid April. We had 2 rooms, both are very nice, clean, and comfortable. The rooms and beds, as are most hotels in San Francisco, are small. The Warwick does a good job with what they have.
The desk personell are very helpful and went out of their way to assist. Major kudos there since the other hotels I have tried in Frisco did not have that.
This hotel is about a half mile walk to just about everything. There are dozens of great restaurants within a 5 min walk.
The only minor issue I had was we booked on a Travelzoo special (which included free wifi and breakfast) and I needed to remind the desk of the freebies, but that's fairly common any more.
All in all I think the Warwick is a winner. I will be back for sure.

This is a very old school hotel. The hotel still has real keys instead of key cards. Love the location of the hotel, it's close to all of the available public transportation options. I will definitely stay there again...

Though my local SFO friends mentioned that this hotel area is not "safe" at night due to "all kinds of people" strolling about, I did not find it to be the case in my one night stay. Regardless, the hotel is elegant and has the vintage feel. We were not surprised with the "small room" due to the age of this hotel. The inside cupboards were rickety and I could not open one large cupboard to store our belongings. Otherwise, we had a comfortable stay.
