“Amazing stay at a Gorgeous Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We stayed here for my husband's recent business award trip and it was nothing short of amazing. The staff went out of their way to make sure that we were having a great time and seeing the sights and were always quick to offer up advice and what to do and how to get there. So close to everything without sacrificing the luxury. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you to the entire staff here for making my husband and I's first (and definetly not last) trip to San Francisco a trip of a lifetime!

This hotel is truly deserving of the name Ritz. Not only was every detail perfect during our stay, but the staff were truly magnificent. The check in was instantaneous, the front door staff were simply the best I have encountered anywhere, and the executive lounge attendants were not only efficient but truly efficient. My particular compliments for "Starky" at the executive lounge.
I will definitely return to this great hotel.

I recently visited San Francisco and stayed at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. I originally booked my stay at the Fairmont but decided to change hotels when a room became available at the Ritz. I was somewhat nonplussed by the hotel. The hotel is well located on Nob Hill and is a short Taxi ride or moderate walk to a lot of tourist sites and points of interest. Our room was large and bright but the bath was small, surprising for a Ritz Carlton Hotel. Our room was very quiet for a city hotel. This is an old building that has been renovated and has long, dimly lit hallways and low water pressure. The staff were helpful and attentive. Overall, I thought this Ritz Carlton was fine but not superior.

We booked a 4-night stay at the Ritz because of a great promotion (3rd night free) and their always nice Club Level. We also like the location since this would be a sightseeing vacation.

Check in: We had an evening flight into SFO and made it to the Ritz around 8pm. Since it was a Wednesday there was no one else checking in - and it took us all of 5 minutes to complete the paperwork. We were on the Club floor, which is only accessible with your room key in the elevator. The club level has someone on duty until 10pm, so we were able to ask him for a dinner recommendation and he was very helpful. We also grabbed a few chocolate chip cookies and macarons for dessert (the BEST!!!)

Room: Room is an adequate size, with a large desk and chair next to the window. The windows did crack open, which we were thankful for. We didn't even need to use the air conditioner because it was so cool and breezy outside. Bathroom has two sinks, but not a whole lot of cabinet/shelf space. The toilet is in a separate closet and the shower/tub combo is a little outdated....BUT the water pressure was great, shower head was very strong and the bath products were definitely luxurious. They use Asprey's Purple Water scent products and even sell the fragrance in the Ritz shop downstairs. The room is outfitted with robes and slippers. When we arrived there was a tray of chocolates and a little coconut cake to welcome us.

Club level: This is the biggest reason we choose Ritz properties - we love their club lounge. The breakfast was typical but very good. They had a selection of pastries, muffins, croissants, fruit, cereal, cheese and meats, oatmeal and hot quiche. A coffee machine makes hot drinks, including hot chocolate. Midday they would set out sandwiches, salads, lemonade and iced tea. Then in the evenings, 5-8pm is their hors d'oeurvres and cocktail hour. They have a full bar with mixers, wine and champagne. The appetizers were usually cheese and crackers, sliced cold beef filet, marinated vegetables, etc. We took full advantage and usually had a few drinks and snacks before dinner each night. Saturday night was their special caviar on toast point service, which was great as always. After cocktail time there is dessert... with offerings like chocolate fondue, creme brulee, cheesecake, red velvet cake and truffles. The staff in the club level is top notch. They all addressed us by name and would inquire into how our stay was going and what we were doing each day in the city. A+ for the service in the lounge.

We will definitely stay again, if not in San Francisco than in one of their many global locations.

Stayed for a business function, and didn't know what to expect on arrival. It was stunning, the staff are superb, the rooms perfectly appointed, incredibly comfortable and homey. Loved every moment of our stay!

We had a wonderful stay the Ritz. We stayed on the club level. The food presentations were very nice. There were always a variety of selections. The staff on the club level were wonderful and very attentive. There is a trolley stop right near the hotel which made getting around the city very easy (we got a three day pass that allowed us to use the bus, trolley, train, etc). The room was comfortable and clean. I wasn't thrilled with the restaurant on the property, but the club level presentations made up for that. We stayed on the American Express Platinum travel. They did not have an upgrade available. The other benefits were extended/available. Ask for a room that does not have an adjoining door. There was a group of women in the room next to us and they were enjoying the visit. We were subjected to the boisterous conversation and laughing. Really, it would have been fine if not for the adjoining door. Starkey, one of the club level concierge reps was very efficient in taking care of reservations for us and making suggestions for our visit. The daily room cleaning seemed to sometimes be very late in the day. Not a problem since we were out most of the day, but might want to request early cleaning service if this is important to you.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not have an adjoining door.

Simply the best hotel we have stayed in. All the staff from the moment you arrive are first class with their attention to detail in making your stay the best it can be. The restaurant is wonderful, the location of the hotel was perfect for our needs. After several stays at other 4 & 5 star hotels in San Francisco, my husband and I thoroughly recommend the Ritz Carlton above all others.
