My husband had business in SF, so I joined him after his conference for a long weekend in the city. Since we were able to "ditch" all three of our preschoolers, we decided to stay at a smaller, more intimate hotel right in the heart of things. The Inn at Union Square was perfect for that. We stayed in a room that featured a fireplace, small sofa and coffee table. Our view was out over some garages and into the neighboring office-type buildings. Because I love the sounds of a bustling city, we slept with our windows open. The room was small, but perfectly adequate for two travelers. The bathroom was small...just a toilet & bathtub. I noticed some peeling wallpaper, but nothing horrendous. The vanity area outside of the bathroom had very little counter space, but no big deal. I have very little counter space at home!
The linens were nice and the pillows devine. Once we got the correct cable, we were able to use the internet effortlessly. We particularly enjoyed the little wine and cheese gatherings in the early evening. We met different people every night, which, for us, is the wonderful part of traveling. The location couldn't have been any better....just a half a block off of Union Square. We didn't rent a car and were able to get everywhere we wanted mostly on foot, occassionally by public transportation and once by cab. For the price, we would definitely stay at the Inn again.
