“Best value and location in Fan Fran”

Just jump on the BART and go to Market Street and you are there in no time. Don't let the small reception put you off - Great location, clean tidy rooms, very helpful staff at reception, perfect buffet brekkie.

Spouse and I met with another family member for a stay in an executive suite. Both bed and sofa bed very comfortable. Extra half-bath off living area very handy. Very pleasant staff eager to please. Should you have trouble with the wireless internet, be sure to check with the hotel staff; a cable booster was available. Wireless service techies, though pleasant, may not tell you that! Excellent continental breakfast. We were never there for the wine/cheese hour. Front desk offered excellent service from getting cabs to offering info on current happenings in the city. Don't be put off by the tiny lobby; the rooms are ample. The lobby is part of this hostelry's charm. We didn't try the working fireplace or the off-site gym/pool.

This hotel is in a good location and feels modern'ish', so for the money I was happy.

We stayed in a room one class up from standard. The room was large, but it didn't blow my socks off.

The airconditioner was placed in the window - and was behind the blinds = not effective or blinds need to be open all night.

It has a bath shower and shower curtain. Yuk.

The bathroom was tiny and while it was recently refurbuished, it felt amatuer hour, like a five year old did the tiling. The finish was bad so it still felt kind of 'old' and dirty.

The decor in the main room was cute, with fun lamps and a desk and the bed was comfortable.

It isn't a spectacular hotel, but you aren't paying spectacular prices either.

This hotel is in a very good location. They offer a social wine tasting every evening for free and the employees are helpful and friendly. The room was very recently re-furbished and is very lovely.

It's all been said already but I have to put my tuppence-worth in. On arrival at the very small frontage my heart plummeted , thinking what had we come to, and again in the tiny reception. However, by the time we got to our room my spirits lifted at the sheer quaint/nostalgic feeling this hotel gave. Our room was lovely and that fabulously comfy bed - where did they get it cos we want one! Everything about this hotel ticked all the boxes and the staff were great. Location, breakfast, the cookie jar, apples - all the little touches - perfect! We'll be back!

We were there in september 2008. We don't understand the good qualification of this hotel.
First the positive:
- Good location
The negative:
- Bad matress
- Small room
- Noisy
- Dirty
- Uncomfortable
- Old-fashioned
- Bad breakfast (You had to be faster than the roadrunner to get the cakes)

The front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful in planning our daily excursions. The hotel is well situated. My son loved the continental breakfast in the morning and cheese and crackers in the evening (I enjoyed the wine!). The rooms were very clean. Rather than do valet parking, we parked at the Union Square ramp, which is just a block down on Post Street. It was $31/day, which wasn’t much cheaper than valet but it was a nice walk and we didn’t have to call ahead to get our car. Our favorite meal was at Uncle Vito’s Pizza, 2 blocks up on Powell and Bush. Great pasta, and the pizza looked great too!
