What a wonderful boutique hotel! Very friendly staff, great wine and cheese in evening and continental breakfast in the morning. Very close to theater district and great shopping on Union Square. Look forward to staying there again!

Coming directly from a bed & breakfast in Napa, my husband and I were prepared for a downgrade in personalized service when we arrived in San Francisco. Imagine our surprise when we were greeted by name at check-in (by the lovely Anne!) and immediately made to feel at home. We were amazed by the Inn's warmth and hospitality from the start and continuously impressed until our check-out. From Anne to Omar and the other staff, everyone was so welcoming, accommodating, and friendly. Our room (which was upgraded for our anniversary!) was fairly spacious and very clean. The free WI-fi and nightly turn-down service were fantastic perks. The best one, however, was the FREE HAPPY HOUR each night. This isn't a shabby happy hour-- we're talking fantastic wine and delicious cheese. Add this to the daily breakfasts and nightly cookies left out and you cannot go wrong with this choice.

And the night before we left, the front desk called to make sure we were all set to get to the airport. Talk about feeling taken care of!

The Inn at Unions Square is amazing!! We will definitely be back when we find ourselves in San Francisco again :) Thank you!!!

Room Tip: Rooms near the street let you listen to the lovely music coming from Union Square in the early eveni...

I have visited San Francisco many times over the past thirty years, and stayed in many, many hotels. This time I was lucky enough to get a room at the Inn at Union Square. What an amazing place! Yes, you should believe all the reviews. They are true.

I was greeted by Ann at the front desk. Immediately captures you in with her warm sunny personality. Was upgraded immediately to a king bed (Ann said because I had travelled all the way from Australia and must be tired. Where else does this happen?)

The rooms are very good - comfortable, well decked out, and the chocolates in the evening are just fabulous. I had a junior suite (wonderful) and could not be happier with the quality of the room. Free wifi? Of course.

Then we get to the location (just perfect at Union Square), the free breakfast (why would you go anywhere else) and the evening drinks and cheese. Now, as a seasoned traveller, I thought the drinks and cheese would be a gimmick - until I sampled the great wine and the wonderful cheese - and met Wayne, the Innkeeper. What a lovely man. Engaging, kind, inclusive, well travelled, full of stories. So you end up socialising with him and other guests before setting out to dinner. Very relaxing, and the fact they put this on every night is amazing. Coffee and tea available 24x7 and warm cookies before bed time!!!!

I have never, ever been to a hotel where, on the last day, I was sorry to leave because of the hotel!

Other hotels around the world should learn from this hotel with respect to customer service and experience. The incremental cost to the hotel of all the extras is minimal. The value - just enormous and incalculable in terms of repeat business - let alone positive postings on TripAdvisor.

You should be a case study for a business school in customer intimacy. I teach at the Business School in Australia, and I will use you for sure.

Congratulations to Ann, Wayne and all the staff for am amazing experience! You all deserve a major pay rise.

Room Tip: Get a suite. Its worth it.

Staff was friendly and attentive, free breakfast a bonus, location wonderful. The rooms are a bit dated and the bathrooms are small. However the rooms were very clean and quiet. They also upgraded us!

We live in the SF Bay Area, but wanted a getaway for a couple of nights in the City. The Inn was perfect -- small with personal service, delightfully decor, friendly and helpful staff, amazing location a few steps from the cable cars, great restaurants in the neighborhood. The Inn provides free continental breakfast, Wifi, wine and cheese reception every night, bottled water, and sweet ambience. We had a lovely time there.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the street are quieter.

Could not believe how incredibly quiet my room was in this hotel located 1/2 block from Union Square. Upon arrival, I was upgraded to a king suite at no extra charge which was the beginning of a lovely stay. The staff were extremely solicitous. I just wish I needed them more! The only negative of the room is that the windows faced a brick wall so there was not much natural light. However, I will take that over a noisy room any day! The evening wine and cheese was lovely and the free breakfast was great!

We picked this hotel based on the reviews, and we were not disappointed.

The hotel is right at the central of everything happening!!!
Checking-in is a breeze. We were there couple of hours earlier than check-in time, but we were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready. We booked the king-sized deluxe. It wasnt exactly that roomy, but it was really cozy, comfortable and clean. Even though it was in the middle of everything, it was quiet.
Thoroughly , completely enjoyed the wine hour. Nice wine and cheese. Happened that the chinese new year parade (in front of union square to chinatown) took place when we were there. We viewed from the hotel's wine reception window! really cool! and DO NOT miss their evening cookies. They are to-die-for yummy!!!!
And the best thing about this hotel - is their staff. From the housekeepers, front desk officers to the innkeeper (who does the rounds to make sure that everybody enjoys themselves during wine hour). They are a warm, helpful bunch. We had wonderful conversations with the innkeeper who is such a delightful host whom shared with us of all the great finds in the city. Ann and Omar will assist you if you have any request. (Ann has such great energy! such a delight whenever i see her)

If i had to nitpick, i would say that the elevator is abit slow. sometimes, u could wait forever... but its an old building. I think they should add elevator grill to add to the charm.

If i were to visit SF again, I would stay at the INN again over any 5 or 6 * hotel.

Highly recommended.
