“A great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2012

I chose this hotel after a lot of research on Trip advisor and have to say, I was very glad I did. My husband is not very keen on hotels and this one looked a good choice for him, and it was. It felt like we were staying in someones house really, as it is very intimate and cozy. I took the advice of a previous review and stayed in room 607 which was fab as it was very quiet. Can't find fault at all with the hotel. Is very clean and I loved the breakfast which is served at the end of floors 3 and 5. Again, it didn't feel like being in a hotel as it was help yourself and you could take a tray into you room if you wanted to. We barely saw any staff at all. Early evening you get wine, cheese and nibbles, and 9pm, cookies. I loved all of this and thought it a great touch. Free tea and coffee as well all added to the feeling that you were not in a hotel at all. The front desk staff were all fantastic and so helpful. A big thanks to the fabulous Anne, who should really be given her own tv show! So friendly and helpful! Also to Omar, who saved my life as I had forgotten my travel adaptor and he had a ready spare! A fantastic stay, great location and a lovely, unique hotel. Will definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Room Tip: Email the hotel directly. They are on weekend break sites with flights as well, but found it cheaper...

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your recent stay and for taking the time to comment our your visit. We are very pleased that you found the Inn to your liking and it lived up to your expectations. We strive to provide exceptional service with generous amenities at your “home away from home” in San Francisco. We whole heartily agree that Ann should star in her own television show as it would most likely be the most entertaining show on air. We look forward to your return visit.

Kind regards and safe travels,

Our stay at this lovely hotel was made exceptional by the welcoming staff, especially Anne. It was always so nice to return to our room and be greeted with genuine friendliness. A wonderful location, great breakfast, and true hospitality. Would definitely return!

Everyone at the Inn at Union Square is so friendly! From the moment you enter to each time you pass through the lobby you are sure to be greeted with a friendly smile. Ann is so full of excitement it is contagious. She had great suggestions on places to visit some of which ended up being our favorite. I highly recommend walking through Golden Gate Park. It is absolutely beautiful. The pastries each morning were always a nice treat and helped keep our hunger at bay so we could get a great start to our morning. They have coffee and tea out during the day too if you are nearby and need a refresher. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and we never heard any street noise at night. One morning we did hear the guest next to us but she was clearly talking at an unusually high volume and I don't blame the hotel for that. The location is perfect since it is so close to the cable cars and bus stops and the hip union square area. This is a very small hotel but that only adds to the charm and makes it feel more like a home away from home. We got the opportunity to meet Wayne, the Inn Keeper on our way out and he was very personable as well. They kept our bags secure the last day after checkout so we could enjoy the city before our flight and had a taxi waiting for us when we returned. We can't wait to go back to San Francisco already and when we do we will stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel for a total of five nights. Each day, the hotel provided a small continental breakfast and hosted provided wine and cheese in the evening. They also provided free bottled water and a daily newspaper. So, a+ on the amenities.

The hotel is located about 1/2 block from Union Square, and we thought it was a good location for first time visitorsto SF. The "hop on/hop off" bus stopped directly across the street from the hotel. We saw few other quests while we were there, so I think the occupancy rate may be low.

The lobby is the smallest hotel lobby we have ever seen. They took the photo of the lobby used on their web site by moving out the two chairs they have, and shooting the photo of the mirror opposite the desk.

Our only complaint is that they were inflexible with giving us late checkout time on our final day. We asked to check out at 1:45 P.M.(usual time is noon).

Room Tip: We stayed for 4 nights in what we thought was a "king deluxe." We then spent a few days...

We loved staying at The Inn at Union Square. The rooms were nicely appointed and comfortable and the staff was outstanding. They have a small reception area on several floors where we met up with other guests for breakfast and/or wine and cheese in the evening. We got (and gave) advice on things to do during these times, which made our stay there even more enjoyable. Location was great. We did not bother with renting a car - would actually have been a needless expense. Took BART from the airport and walked a few blocks to The Inn. Bought a three day muni pass for the cable cars and all municipal buses which were easy to access from The Inn. It was simple to get where ever we wanted to go. Lots of good restaurants in the area too, especially iThai just a few blocks up at 720 Post Street. This was very convenient on our first night when we didn't feel like venturing too far on a rainy night. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends. Got a nice discount because of the time of year, but even full price is probably better than a large hotel where you would be one of many anonymous guests. The staff here really seems to care about your needs.

Room Tip: Not sure about air conditioning - best to check if this is important to you. We didn't need it i...

We're big fans and frequent users of Tripadvisor, but have never actually written a review about any of the places we've found using the site. This little hotel and it's wonderful staff, however, are well worth the effort and are so very deserving all the praise they've been receiving!
We spent three nights, beginning March 26. Perfect location. Warm reception upon arrival, and our room (507) was lovely. Enjoyed the wine and cheese available at the end of the hall in the evenings, a very nice touch. Great dinner recommendations... (the excellent Italian restaurant up the road is called 'Fino'.) Umbrellas magically appeared for us one very rainy evening. Even a hug from Ann when we were leaving!
Thanks to all. Great stay.

This little Inn is in the perfect location for any traveller. The staff were very friendly, extremely helpful and nothing was a problem. I loved the wine & cheese on level 3 & 5 at the end of a busy day - an excellent unwind and a fabulous way to meet other travellers and exchange hints! I would highly recommend this little Inn !

Room Tip: I was upgraded - so i had no complaints!
